Hi,

I am looking around for a good software overclocking utility that tends to be reliable. I have a ASROCK Dual SATA II motherboard that is currently overclocking my Athlon 64 3200 Venice to 2500 stable. The problem is that the board has limited capabilities beyond that in so much as there is no option to increase volts and the like. I have tried lots of tweaking combinations but no matter what I try I cannot get her beyond the 2500 stable as she is set up now.
I have heard that some software utilities can actually give you the opportunity to, in my case go above the BIOS locked 1.45 volts without a voltmod??? apart from that I am mainly concerned with raising the FSB, dont need nothing to complex!
I have tried her at 2600 and my cheap cooler (Glaciertech Igloo 7200AMD) can keep the cpu cool enough but I cant hold her stable, its not a memory issue as I can control that albeit in a limited manner. Does anyone have any idea's/recommendations, i am sure even with this amazing cheap little cooler that she will do at least 2600-2700 well under 50C full load but need some more power!
Cheers:confused:

I thought the Asrock had proprietary based overclocking software and a buttload of bios settings. If you are having problems reaching your goal overclock search for overclocking guides in this forum as many people have written excellent threads dealing with this very subject. Also doing a search on your board to see what others have reached with certain settings would give you a better idea of what approach to use. I think Wizzard has a vmod, tweaking guide and modded bios for that board in the reviews section.

No software overclocking utilities. The BIOS is excellent for memory timings/FSB etc etc but what it does is locks the VCore to 1.45 and whatever I do I need more power, would prefer to avoid a voltmod but am told that some software utilities can override stock BIOS volt settings, oohhh and there is no chipset (M/B) voltage control either in the BIOS.

Thanks, I have tried them and no luck, bottom line is that I think I am at my limit of FSB without either a voltmod or a software utility that will allow me to take her above the BIOS locked 1.45V, I stress BIOS locked cause I cannot find anything to say that it is anything else, thats why I think there may be an O/C utility out there that will give me more?

Tatty I have the same board and the only way to bump up the cpu voltage is to do the vmod. There are two different vmods for the Dual SATA2, one here which is posted by W1zz which is the easiest and only takes you to 1.55v. I don't have the other link handy for the one that requires a vr, either way both require you to solder.. the best overclock util to use with your mobo is Systool here

Yeah, I don't think any software program can really override BIOS settings. All the ones I've seen just let you change settings in Windows that you could normally change in your boards BIOS.

Thanks for your and everbody elses help, looks like its a vmod then! might try this weekend, thanks for the link, looks straightforward enough, would like to see if I can get her to 2700 and keep her below 50C full stress test load, I am assuming that is Ok as max operating temps for the chip is 55-69C???? what U think, say maxed out at 47 or 48C, means I would not have to change cooler then.

I have the same MB (939DualSataII) and I believe I saw a setting for voltage... I could be wrong but try updating your bios to the newest one, or try one of the OCW bios's available on http://www.ocworkbench.com

I haven't oc's mine yet but that's coming
