recovering hard drive

i got a huge problem ,after restorting my windows 7 with a backup copy
windows decided to format some how my F drive 320gb large, and copy H drive a pci-e ssd to my 320gb F disk and label it as a H drive...
is there a way i can undo this??

thank god i managed to restore some very important files with paragon partition manager... tough all other game data is gone, but i managed to save all my photos..

Morgoth, avoid these situations with a good back up plan.
The conventional wisdom by tech experts on backups is known as the 3-2-1 method.

Basically you want:

3 copies of any data you don't want to lose
2 different mediums it's stored on (so 2 different drives in your computer, for example)
1 copy kept offsite, to prevent against disaster. Such as Morgoth casting your drive into the outer void as revenge.

Glad you could recover those photos.

Also unplug the drives you're not using when messing with OS installs. Avoids confusion.

Just to add to the advice above, I've been using the free Karen's Replicator for about a decade now and it's saved my bacon several times now. You should ALWAYS have an up to date backup, as you never know when disaster can strike, or in what form.

With Karen's you can create an image backup mode, which just duplicates all files in one partition or folder to another one. Do this so it backs up to a different drive and you have the start of a good backup plan until you put in place something more comprehensive.

Offsite backups, differential backups, offline backups etc are all good, but they take time to set up and can be confusing, but this quick and easy way of doing it will help you avoid data loss in many situations starting right now.
