14 years after it was originally launched for consoles, the 1st Red Dead Redemption game finally arrives for the PC platform.

If you never played it, you can grab it on Steam:

You probably won't need a good PC for it. Should work on GTX 960 or Radeon R7 360 and newer.

Download size is also moderate. Just 12GB of storage space is required.

The only problem is the price. Epic should make this a bit more palatable by applying the Rewards cashbacks but I feel $50 USD is still a lot to ask for such an old game. Unless the port is stellar, I'm inclined to wait for a sale

Common sentiment when such fine grained attention is already being given towards console ports inclusive conditions of sale. A few years previous this would've been one for the fans willing to pay going price or considered a nice addition that was quickly scrolled past and logged away in memory.

Even more so the support for the game, like will it be as terrible as it was for RD2.

Have seen a few youtube videos of rdr 1. It dosent bring much new over the console version. You can off cause get higher resolution and maybe a bit better grafich. But it is not a remastered game, just port to pc. So grafich looks outdated (no wunder for a 14 Year Old game). But it could have used some better grafical changes to at least make up for the price a little bit.

But since its just a port directly to pc and not remastered. I a greed with those saying price is to high.

On the up side it seems to run fine on even a potato gpu.

yup, easy money to fund GTA 6 and what BS is going be coming with that. So yeah f/em really had enough of T2 and RS.

The support will be as bad too, when you say you have a issue with RDO and they will respond with some thing like Sorry to hear you having a issue with GTA blah blah blah.

50EUR for a re-release of a 14 year old game is just pure bloodsucking. 30EUR would be reasonable.

The PS3 version was good enough for me as I finished it last year.

I have it, but I can't bring myself to play it on the PS3. The craptastic fps and all, not as charming as PS2 games either.

To be honest, I was shocked at first but got used to it. After all, it's not a fast-paced game and practically all deaths were my fault, not the game's framerate's fault.

RDR2 is a so well made game overhaul (took them years to do it), than the first would look like obsolete and more a first try (rough sketch), idk really i didn't even looked at it, but that's what i think.

@Chomiq, and now FPS is unlocked on PC, depending on your PC perhaps it will output more than 240 FPS.

Also why lastly remastered games don't use RTX Remix, it looked intended for that purpose !

It doesn't even look like anything was done to it outside porting it to PC, graphic's look like they are from 14 years ago. yea 50$ is way to much for an old game with old graphic's.

4070 super can run the game at 1440p, 90fps capped only using 40% of gpu max settings DLSS is off.

Still not worth paying $50. Plus I was one of the victims of RDR2 launch on PC and fought R* to get my money back for something like 2 or 3 weeks.

Never actually played the first RDR. Is this also a horse riding simulator where you waste like 80% of your playthrough on roaming the map on a stallion?

Yes. I think its an acquired taste though, for however long it lasts. After getting captured and returning to start going for the great score AGAIN I did kinda just put RDR2 on the side for a while... and haven't returned since. It turned stale on me. They drag it on for too long, although that's probably the whole point of its story.

I dip into RDR2 from time to time, but it's never really hooked me like other games have. I enjoy the horse riding, up to a point and the controls are surprisingly good with keyboard and mouse, although you have to be very dextrous when shooting from the saddle.
Even in Argentina it's priced at $50, so it's a definite no from me, especially given my comments above.
