One thing I have noticed about less expensive PSUs is the modular models are usually the ones with the most issues.

If you can find out who actually built it, some here swear to Seasonic when they build for rebranding.

The tier list ( link in sig ) is mostly opinion but should give you some idea where it stands, if its listed.

I am planning to build a PC for my Son and the 600w fully modular is tempting.

Considering they make cheap mice (I own one) and keyboards I fully expect them to do the same with their PSU. No clue who the actual OEM is but Id bet it's not delta, flextronics, super flower, or seasonic with that msrp.

It doesnt appear to claim its 80w Bronze certified either, it does claim its efficiency tho.

never buy a cheap PSU.
i'd rather buy a 3070 instead of a 3080 before i buy any non "High Tier" PSU from well known brands.

Ok I will stick with EVGA/Corsair. My Son's PC is powered with TT Smart power 500W and fan is noisy to my sensitive ears, even when idle.

How about beQuiet brand? May be I will just replace the TT's fan with a beQuiet fan.

its probly a rebraned or whitebox unit with a red dragon sticker
I have not seen a teardown by JD so god knows who accually makes it
but its modular with decent cables its ROHS certified so at the least its probly not a fire hazard

I do use bargain basement Chinese LED AC ceiling lights as they are not connected to expensive equipment, fail gracefully so far and I don't turn them on while I'm outside the house. But I set my quality bar way higher to USB chargers and PSUs powering $1000+ worth of equipment.

It's objectively stupid to be penny wise pound foolish for the latter since $100 for a quality PSU is infinitesimal compared to potentially burning your house down or getting an electrocution.

Forget about UL, the unit doesn't have any regulatory certification at all. The closest one the unit have, a CE mark, is just a self conformity claim, which more often than not means nothing.

NEVER skimp on a PSU unit, always get a known quality unit and be done with it - They do cost more but your home and belongings costs even more to replace - Not to mention there is no replacing you or your loved ones at any cost.

This is the 1 Red Dragon product I have, cost was $39+ tax at the time.
it's just a mouse, but it is wired or charged w/ decent RGB if your into that.
So far happy with it.

I don't know if I'd get a PSU from then, but i'm using a Thermaltake fully modular 750w 80+ Gold certified. Who knows what the thoughts are on that??

Will upgrade it but I've had zero problems with it in the year+ I have had it. And it was cheap. $129.000 I think.

Seriously, I don't know what you are getting at. Input peripherals draw 5W DC at most and doesn't need high voltage galvanic isolation, proper grounding and other safety mechanisms required for a safe PSU. It isn't elitist advice to tell you it's really stupid to bet your life to save a few bucks.

It seems to me that people really don't like Thermaltake too much here. I can't find many threads on their products
and I haven't got much feedback on the parts I bought from them, especially the CLD 480m radiator and the MX1 plus water block.

Sincere question: How common are PSU-ignited fires? It seems more like a meme at this point than a realistic risk. Anecdotally, I've used some pretty sketchy units over the years. Some have quietly perished, others zapped a board in their death throes, and one notable casualty let out the magic smoke. None have caught fire, let alone set something else on fire.

Hi,
Redragon Cheap mice lol yeah 901 I have two and love them both work great
I got a third except it turned out to be a 901_1 it's driver is crap yes they use different driver unfortunately so not very good so I'm done with redragon mice support was pitiful
Never would of considered any of their other stuff just took a chance on mice and worked out 2 out of 3 good.

Somewhat similar to cooler master they run the gamut from rather good to rather mediocre.

Corsair is one of the few I know about. - Expensive fans that imo are nowhere near as nice as the T.T. quads.

Stay away from that Red Dragon PSU!!

TT is not a bad brand, I have not used their high end products though. The cheaper Smart Power 500W still chugs along powering my son's APU based machine but for not much load the fan keeps ramping up and even at idle the fan noise is annoying. The similar priced EVGA 80 plus is damn quiet.

I also had a TT AIO, the single 120mm radiator type, after a yr the pump was making noises and stopped working. For similar price probably a Corsair would be better.

Their cases look good, I like their mini ITX cubes.

For this build I might shy away form TT and looking for something else.

BeQuiet is quite good. They started with PSUs "designed in germany, made in china" and expanded to fans, coolers and cases over the years. Most of their products get real good results in reviews.
