Was at a LAN on the weekend and grabbed one single file (was mainly gaming) and the file contained a butt load of viruses and spyware.

Avast and spybot S&D can see the viruses and spyware but they don;t seem to be able to do much else to them. I've even gone into safe mode and deleted the ones i could find but my Pc is still swamped with them.

Reformatting isn't an issue until i get my 500gb caddy back from a mate so i can back stuff up first :(

is there any better anti virus software/ spyware killers out to prevent this from happening again?

I've been using Kasperskey for years now and have not had problems at all, Norton anti-virus I had endless troubles. I run lavasoft adaware sometimes also to make sure.

I've got bitdefender and it works realy good for me. It also has a 'gaming mode' that makes it less agressive and it uses less ram during gaming :)

I got Kaspersky Internet Security off eby for £14, key only, and it was a retail 3 PC license. What I love about Kaspersky is that you are paying for the product not the version. I.E I bought it when it was on 08, then when the upgraded to 09, I download it and used my existing key, unlike Symantec who tries to charge each time they upgrade their software.

its really light on resources, really user friendly, reallgy good!
