Remote control software

Hey TPU, I need remote control software again. I've asked this question before and someone reccomended LogMeIn, and it was great, but for some reason, when I go to thier website, even after specifically going to the LogMeIn Free section on thier website, they still install the Pro2 trail instead of the free edition I was trying to get.

Anyways, I need free remote control software. I don't need support for sound, or file/printer sharing, all I need to be able to do is control the mouse and keyboard on the host pc.

Use log me in, once the pro version runs out it will revert back to logmein free

theres also a logmein iPhone app now

Yup. Logmein Pro reverts back to Logmein Free after the trial expires. Its a very good Remote control software though. You can control multiple PCs in different windows.

I wish I could say, but I've never tried Logmein. I'm new to the remote control software thing and UltraVNC is all I've tried. All I can say is, for a beginner like me, it was easy to use and did all I wanted it to. Hope that helps!

UltraVNC is decent alright, but I noticed there was a little more lag with it compared to LogMeIn.

Gosupportnow is another very good remote support tool. It is very easy to use and costs only $19.95 / month. Another alternative is deploying on premise remote support appliance such as RHUB or Bomgar appliances in order to remotely access computers.

a good free alternative to logmein is a free dyndns service like noip (http://www.noip.com/) combined with any free VNC client, such as Ultra or my pick RealVNC (http://www.realvnc.com/). the biggest issue i have is having to keep the dyndns active when it's not used. it's really no issue, they will email you and you click a link and enter a captcha to keep the account active.
