Replacing Mobo

Hello well im finally going replace the MoBo a INTEL DG33BUC, a crappy MoBo but it was free, jejeje well im thinking on several possible replacements like these

Well, The gigabyte 45's are one hell of a beast of a chipset.. I'm so surprised that it's done as good as it has. It's made me think more of getting another Gig board..

DFI is Bios tuner's lover and hater.. You will learn more about a bios then ever before by playing with that.. I've played with both the P35 and X48's bios and there just wowzer.. You can get more out of those boards, just may sleep a little less..

As for cooler, I'll all ways stand by Xig for their S1283. They did a great job, and by getting a good two fans, you'll be in heaven. Plain heaven.. IMHO on it all

Hi buddy. I have never owned a Socket 775 Intel system, therefore i'm not really familiar with the Chipsets. However for the motherboard, I know DFI has a reputation for overclocking really good, their BIOS is really really good with plenty of options. I have a DFI board on my AMD system, and probably looking to replace my i7's mobo for a DFI x58 chipset. Boards are very solid and overclocking amazingly well.


For cooler, the Xigmatek I would say is a crowd favorite and is a great cooler for the money.

Please note that Cold storms feedback is because he has had a Gigabyte board and is telling you from first hand experience. I've never had a DFI board for the chipsets you are giving as an option. Therefore I would listen to him more. Glad he agreed on the cooler

Asus is good, but it's more based on allowing other things to do your oc for ya.. Not really my flavor! Now, if Dfi made a SLi board in the 7xx series, I'd go back to them in a heart beat!!! I know X58 I'll be going there again!

im alrady x58, but I might go DFI too!, Results on the i7 are amazing with that board!

Anyhow, back on topic. If you can give this dude some tips based on what you have had experience with thats great, I just gave him my opinions, but never used the products. Lets see what others have to say as they slowly start to post here.

Well I have three Asus boards, and have done OC manually on them. I don't trust those automatic stuff... P5Q series are good, not too expensive, and you can squeeze quite some hidden power out of it.

As for cooling, I'm on the Xiggy side aswell. Just take care that your case provides good airflow.

I've owned two so far on asus. Done the oc manually. Don't get me wrong. I loved the two boards, I just saw that if you have more on auto, the board will like you more.. lol

I'd tell anyone to get a Asus board. just know that if you want to have a bios on a board that can get that chip higher then anything else, Dfi is the place.. IMHO

On Gigabyte, it's getting to be like Biostar was. They where good long ago, had some hiccups and now with one chip is getting back on the market. The P45's are those chips.

I seriously regretted going from a DFI P35 to a ASUS P45. Their AMD chipset boards aren't as stellar but still good. But if I went Intel again, I would most definitely get DFI.

I would say the DFI. I used to have a mid-range AMD ASUS board, and that was fine for what i had then. But now this DFI is just awesome, blows it out of the water and then some. Nothing against the ASUS as a board or a brand, but i am just THAT impressed by the DFI.

Also, the Xig is meant to be very good. I am trying to find one here in the UK after i have spent a good few days looking at reviews. What got me is that it is very quiet whilst still doing a good cooling job.

Should be able to play Crysis at a decent specs, maybe Medium with some AA, or even High with some AA and maintain frames in the 30's or so, in Crysis Warhead, maybe 35-40 frames.
