Sure if you can shave off the extra fluff on the desktop drive. Make it all compact and cute for your laptop.

Get an SSD and call it a day.

The cable from netbook fits with the HDD, but the problem is that the HDD can´t be in the case cause it is too large. I have to have it outside of the case.

Buy the cheapest SSD for it. You'll be eternally grateful for this :) I've used Intel 80GB (those X25M or whatever those first Intel drives were) in my crappy little ACER Aspire One and it was amazing. Worked so much faster, ran quieter and also a lot cooler. Also no vibrations. Been on SSD's in laptops since then and there is no way in hell I'll ever go back to HDD.

Unless you use 2.5" drive in your PC, you won't be able to fit it inside laptop/netbook. Desktop drives are way bigger.

Surprised you did not Suggest washing it in a washing machine on the wool wash setting so it shrinks like my wooly jumpers and socks

Seriously Laptops and netbooks usualy have a 2 1/2" Drive and Desktops a 3 1/2" ( or 2 1/2" SSD in a adapter)
as others have said
Get a SSD (your appreciate the improved performance )
or find a Good used 2 1/2" ( from a knackered laptop or Playstation ) to reduce costs

Or your going to have to ghetto a power supply for a desktop HD ( and that means its no longer a "mobile Device)

Back in the day I wanted to stick 10k RPM Velociraptor in my laptop. I had to settle down on 7200RPM Seagate Momentus after finding out Velociraptor also needs 12V despite its size. Then I just went with SSD's...
