What I have heard is the graphics and the gameplay mechanics are vastly improved, but stories are basically the same. It has much higher approval numbers so far than many RE games have had.

There's a demo on Steam (time-limited full level). Try it. I've already added it to my wishlist.
Graphics is amazing. Requirements are also quite adequate (played in 1440p on my GTX1060, no prob)

The story is tweaked and I think they added a few extra scenario options for replaying. Did I have fun in the demo? Yeah. Did I think the gfx looked good? Yeah. Do I think it is worth $60? No. What price would I buy it at? Prob around $20-$30

Long time Resident Evil fan, Pre ordered it, played it, got wrecked and finished Leon A (6.5hrs) and Claire B scenario (5.5hrs) on a blind run, will try 4th survivor later but im doing claire A run now trying to beat my time and get some infinite ammo weapons :V
Runs very well on my machine at 1440p DSR (mostly 60FPS but occasional dips on very specific areas or cutscenes), all settings max except volumetric lighting at medium (can kill my FPS when paired with high resolution), vsync off 60fps cap (vsync somewhat introduces fps drop on some scenes not present when vsync off)
TAA enabled but too blurry so i paired it with reshade lumine sharpen with moderate sharpening
I have the deluxe edition because its only 36USD on my region and enabled the original RE2 soundtrack and sound effects (REmake2 barely has any music, but i only enabled it on my 2nd run/B scenario)
I feel like Leon's weapons feels more geared for zombie take down and Claire's weapons are more geared to boss battles, Leon seems to have "higher HP" as well vs Claire

There is some knife glitch exploit used by some to increase the damage dealt by the knife, only for PC version, the higher your FPS, the higher the knife damage is, kinda like Dark souls II's weapon wear is attributed to the higher framerate of PC

I've finished my playthrough as Leon, the overall story is more or less the same but with some minor changes like how Ada shows up for the first time and explaining her reason of being in Raccoon city for example.
Graphics are very nice, gameplay its a huge improvement from 4,5 and 6 in a way that you can actually move around while aiming and even knifing you can strife about. They are using the menu system from RE7 aswell.

almost 9,000 reviews and its holding steady at overwhelming positive. I am impressed. Never been all that interested in resident evil but I give this game a shot.

I have played Resident evil 0 and now I'm playing Resident evil Hd Remaster before playing re2 remake on my twitch channel.
For what my friends have said and what i have seen with the demo the game is great.

It is really good. Just be warned, they changed the challenge a bit since there is no tank controls anymore. Zombies seem to have an iron skull and can take quite a few hits to the head. Plus the knives break.

I only played so far about 1hr of it and mostly for testing purposes. It runs great and gives so many options for video adjustments that you can easily play around with it to tune it to your needs. It also looks really good.

I would love to see more remakes of old games
one of them is No one lives forever and NOLF2
but i don't think it will ever happen

Capcom described it as Re imagining rather than a remake

But yeah, its a really nice game, some folks are rather stressed out at Mr. X though, the tyrant that always coming after you, imagine Nemesis now with this Engine, he sprints and has a rocket launcher!

yeah uh so whats the difference between reimagining and remake? i mean by that definition a lot of remakes of movies and games should also be called "reimagining" as the stories are never exactly the same as the original.

Judging by the screenshots I've seen the tyrant in RE2 looks a lot like the ones in RE Damnation
and just another reason why I added the game to my wishlist
I hope they allow the player to use a tank to take down mr X

High cpu usage. It means you need a beefy CPU to still get great GPU performance.

I won't speak for others, but while I dislike DRM in general, I hate layered DRM schemes.

Edit: Also these things tend to linger on after you uninstall the game and act as rootkits, if anyone finds a vulnerability.

Take a shot at the first 'rebooted' RE as well then, its rather brief and linear, but it plays like a brilliant horror movie. Absolutely awesome IMO. Super impressive dialogue and voice acting + animations + overall quality. You can sit through it in one day-long session (7-9 hours I reckon, took me about 9 while searching every nook & cranny).

Not with every implementation, by far. Denuvo is not a guarantee for high CPU load, in fact it is an exception to the rule if that is the case.

RE2 remake has no "B story", only "A story" cause "B story" is pretty identical to "A story". Playstation version had a "B story" and the "B story" was linked to "A story", in this game "A story" is not linked with "B story", you face the same bosses on both stories and few things are different, resident evil 7 was the same, there was no story if you chose zoe, practically she dies and you play as mia, another disgusting prank by capcom. The game is very good but story wise concerning b story is disgusting, there is only A story and for $60 is too much money for just 5 hours or so of gameplay.

Zombies even survives 8 full shots of a shotgun. Lickers are pretty invencible, lickers use speedhack, they walk faster than light. Dogs and ivy human plants are okay, bosses are easy except last boss "A story" which was very hard for me even with lots of weapons and ammo. Tyrant is annoying, super tyrant is too easy to kill.

That's typical resident evil for you, the original 3 had the same amount of gameplay time, im fine with shorter games as long as its fun, some larger games tend to get meh the longer time you spend on it.lucky for us, my region costs half of the price mostly vs other regions

Re2 barely uses any cpu resources for my ancient 3770k, its mostly gpu, then again im at locked framerate at 60fps, cpu usage is below 50% mostly
And there were some vids shown last time that denuvo hardly causes any performance hit on most games tested.
