This was my review on Steam.

I just finished the game. I haven't used any guide so it was pretty hard, many deaths until I learnt how to deal with the problem. I played on my first playthrough as Claire and second as Leon, I do recommend the game, gameplay wise is awesome, graphics top end, the only thing I'm very disappointed is concerning how the game timeline was done by Capcom, I mean, on the original resident evil 2 PlayStation version, you clearly see the walls broken when you return to the police station as Claire due to the Tyrant have broken x Leon, many things were identical to my first playthrough and that is something I'm very disappointed. Story wise the playstation version is an A, this game's story wise score deserves an E, is disgusting, I think they rushed this game like they did to Resident Evil 7 concerning the story, this game could have got a lot better than it is and Capcom could have done if they wanted to.

There is no b story, is just the same game with somethings different, in the original game we had a b story. This was disappointing.

By the way, Leon was a lot more badass in the original game, this Leon looks like a simp/loser.

Also, do not waste shotgun ammo on zombies, shotgun is a joke on this game, best weapon so far for dealing x zombies is the flamethrower which you get only in the end of the game which makes it pretty useless where you need the most which is at the beginning to deal with hordes of zombies and you have to kill them cause if you dont then you will everytime need to dodge them and a simple mistake on dodging and your game is over.

zombies, lickers and sewer monster are overpowered, dogs, ivy human plants are okay, tyrant running after you is annoying, super tyrant is pretty easy and g boss 1, 2 and 3 are easy, 4 is pretty harcore, very hard to be honest and g5 is easy too.

Well, let me clarify: I’ve not personally had a denuvo game that didn’t raise cpu load.

I assume you've checked this by running the cracked game then the uncracked game to compare CPU usage?

This was my review on Steam.
I really wonder at what difficulty you finished it .
Because 2 friend of mine finished the game at hardcore with Leon .
In hardcore this game is where it shines because you really have to survive.
I know both Leon a and b and same goes for Claire from the original game and make comparison between the original and the remake don't have any sense at all.
Remake mean is re imagined. If you make up expectations and get disappointed is your fault.

So essentially there are only two campaigns now? One with the male and the other with the female character? About 6 hours each? Never played the original. Is the male/female part very different or is it something lazy like Nier Automata where the missions/gameplay is 90% the same with the only difference being a gimmick or to and slightly different diolgue?

Was interested in this but didn't have the desire to replay the game four times to get the ending, so if they're cutting out copy/paste sections I'd be more interested personally.

As I said it was without using any guide, it means normal/standard, playing hardcore/hard without any guide for the first time playing the game is suicide, if you use more healing than supposed to be or kill and waste ammo on things you dont need to be, you get stuck and then you never finish the game. However interesting enough or maybe because i purchased the deluxe version, in the beginning it let me to choose the 3 options, easy, standard and hardcore, in resident evil 7 you had to finish the normal version first, by the way i finished the game in almost 6 hours and used 0 saves and in the end i had rank b, i haven't used any spray aid too.

As this game as an example where things are going, I must say dual cores for games is dead, 4 cores is minimum and 8 cores at moment seems the choice to go but looking in the future, I'd say 16 cores minimum. I tried the game with 2 cores, 4 cores and then 8 cores, using gtx 1070, no other programs in the background, game used 99%, 2 cores fps maximum at 30, minimum 1, too many stuttering, unplayable, 4 cores improves a lot, 50 maximum and minimum 20 fps, 8 cores, maximum 90 and minimum 40 fps. CPU botleneck soon to hit if it was not already hit 4 cores, anybody buying a 6 cores cpu must do a research before buying it, developers are using those spare cores more and more.

Games are optimized around the mainstream, its that simple, and the preference is not to keep cost high, but rather to keep it low. It will take ages before we have 16 thread CPUs in the consoles, and until then, you can safely say it won't happen for PC games either. And even when it does, on PC we could easily use 4 fast Intel cores against the 8 crappy Jaguar ones. Look at the console specs right now and how they relate to the increased spec requirements on PC over the last decade, and you can see it for literally everything: core counts as you say, but also VRAM requirements (6GB or more in the consoles) translate right over to the PC world. But support =/= requirement on the PC platform, at least not for everything.

Consoles are slowly moving towards 4K right now, the focus isn't and will never be on the CPU. They make do with slow, inefficient cores and still keep it up.

I agree with this. Even the testing at wccftech had to be done @1080p on a 2080Ti just to really see the difference between 4c/4t and 8c/16t. But the reality is, when using sensible settings, a 4c processor doesn't really become a limiting factor.

Well I went back and re-played Leon A story on normal mode again to get S-rank last night, got it in 02:05:00 in-game time with 11 saves and 2 first-aid spray but I did had to restart my run twice and re-load save a few times so it did take me almost 3 hours in one sitting.

It's graphic remake of old one and it can't beat atmosphere that original one had.

Have you played it? I think the game is great in Hardcore and gives me every same sense of fear I would get when I was 9.

Why DX12?

I am running an RX Vega64 Liquid so it just makes sense to use DX12. I don't have any issues with it either. Nvidia cards are notorious for running horribly on DX12 implementations. Plus, it will help send a message to dev's that people are wanting DX12 to take hold.

I thought we all wanted Vulkan instead of DX12?

Well, when there are only 2 choices in a game's menu... DX12 and DX11.. I'll go with DX12. :)

In Resident Evil 2 Remake DX12 is slower than DX11 across the board plus uses more RAM/VRAM. There is no good reason at all to use it. The smallest difference I have seen in tests by various sites has been 10%, it is usually larger than that.

@Flyordie , by the way, Image Quality setting changes rendering resolution. With 1440p at 150% you are rendering the game at 4K and downscaling to 1440p. Straight-up supersampling :)

So you have a habit of choosing the worse option? Because in most titles DX12 does little besides killing performance :D

Must say I'm loving RE:2.. the thing plays so so well on vega too.

Using Radeon Chill with a 75fps cap, everything maxed out over two hours of gameplay the card averaged out at 690Mhz on the core...

Looks amazing for being so well optimized.

atmospheric doesn't do the game justice.. and I appreciate that theres just enough cheese to nod back to the 90's too :toast:

@Flyordie , by the way, Image Quality setting changes rendering resolution. With 1440p at 150% you are rendering the game at 4K and downscaling to 1440p. Straight-up supersampling :)

I know. but I am above 80 FPS at all times with those settings. So it doesn't bother me at all.

And yea, that was the goal. Don't care about VRAM usage as HBCC is actually working really well and because the bandwidth from my System RAM to CPU is around 100GB/s it doesn't really stutter whenever it has to swap things around.

Maximum bandwidth of PCIe 3.0 x16 is ~16 GB/s.

I know. :) It still helps to have fast memory access for multi-tasking. HBCC operates independently. So while it may be moving things to and from system RAM to VRAM.. HBCC might be at the same time moving stuff from the SSD to System RAM. It'll be that much faster for that much less chance of stutter. :)

This is not what HBCC does. HBCC moves data between RAM and VRAM. There is no other way to do that beyond PCIe. HBCC extends "VRAM" and has its own paging system to keep the most used pages in VRAM and moving in the other parts as needed from RAM. Whether this is a benefit effectively depends on how well game's own internal data paging/streaming system works.
