I love resident evil, but I would say silent hill 1 for the ps1 was one of my most favorite horror games, and in terms of whats scarier(will make you jump), dead space was better than resident evil 4 and 5.

The worst resident evil is not 5 jon, I think it was survivor.

I would say
Resident Evil 3 Nemisis
Resident Evil 1
Resident Evil 2
Silent Hill 1(the newer silent hills are ripoffs of the first one)
Code Veronica
Zero
Dead Space
Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil 4

I don`t think that RE5 could disappoint me. Looking at RE4 ( talking about PC version ) there is not a chance RE5 could be worst.

If you went into the game expecting a resident evil like the past games, your be really let down. However after viewing videos, reviews ect i went into the game knowing that it would be nothing like the old resident evils i loved, it was a fun game on co-op. However it could of been it's own franchise.

By that i mean, they should of kept the original Resident evils how they were, and made a new franchise in the style of 4/5. 4 was actualy acceptable as it still felt a bit like a resident evil game, but 5 was NOTHING like the first 3, and imo shouldn't of been labeled as one.

I'd still much rather a new Resdient evil in the style of 1/2/3. However i doubt we're going to get it now.

the old ones has more puzzling solving to get through the levels while 5 was just...go down some alley away etc etc, there is no like go down into the police station and find some key or some power button or something, thats how most of the RE games was like, but this one is just basic going through stages

Resident Evil Remake for the gamecube is the best resident evil that i've played, it can also be played on the pc using the Dolphin gamecube emulator that's how I played through it and it runs perfect.

yeah graphically obviously 5 is better but trust me play 5 and than play 4, this isn't about eye candy its about a franchise that just got destroyed by cRapcom

I see someone agrees with me. Its funny you bring up Silent Hill, which is another franchise that was incredibly good through its first 3 installments then bombed hard from there. :shadedshu

the problem with the silent hills were that, to me, the first 2 or 3 games were good, they were original, then as the games looked better, and better graphically, the stories got worst and worst, and worst, I'm starting to see this trend with alot of games now.

yeah i do think silent hill was a great franchise also, i just think Resident evil is doomed from this point on, even though it was said they would "reboot" the series again

im sitting here like...wait a minute..4 and 5 were suppose to be the "reboot". since when do you reboot a series after only 2 games..

Ah... Biohazard 5 it is.
I dunno, survival horror?
To me it is about as much "horror" as I get from Devil may Cry 4.

the main storyline is pretty much done, so . . . . reboot, . . . . . nooooooo, now its more like a monster game, not a zombie game.

Seriously, this game misses some of the aspects that made RE great; were is the Typewriter? What's with this annoying super small inventory? Where is the Magical Box I can put stuff in to free my castrated inventoryspace? Were the heck are my goddamn riddles?! And most of all: WTF happened to atmosphere?!

Serioulsy, it was a good game with top-notch cinematics and great action. But if it was a "real" Resident Evil or at least one who isn't missing those essential RE-characteristics (RE4!) it would have been an AWESOME game. I haven't touched the game since I and my buddy were through on the hardest difficulty, even though I'd still have some Achievments to do...

On the other hand, I still enjoy playing Code Veronica on my Dreamcast. In my Opinion one of the best REs out there, right next to RE 2. The jump to full 3D really did it for me back in the day and it just offers everything a Resident-Evil fan could want, from the very limited ammunition to the cheesy plot and the partially absurd riddles. Love it. :respect:

I can live without the typewriter. It was always retarded IMO. As for the super small inventory, have you ever played the original? It was just like that, RE4 was the first to bring in the huge inventory.

For the old school RE, I still say that remake on the Cube and Code Veronica on the dreamcast are the best. I just wish with RE5 they didn't make you rely on an AI partner.

i guess capcom wanted try co-operative..but they shouldn't of done it on RE series, they should of just done what they done on 1 let you pick either chris or jill and go different routes, solo missions and doing things which will cause a same or different ending i dunno..

I agree about 1 and CV, i think if there was just a single hero, better ambiance, it could've been alil darker at times, and it would've fit fine..it's just it missed all the things that made resident evil fun.

I enjoyed all of the Resi games, but I do agree with what someone said earlier "the Resi 1 remake on the GameCube was the best".

Resi 5 was good, but could have been better if it had puzzles to solve and shit-your-pants scary parts.

To be honest after two it all went down hill, but since i never got to play 3 because of school/college etc i pretty much jumped into 4 in which i was like

capcom have lost the plot the first one was a masterpiece and what was worse they remade RE1 for the gamecube only  the second one i enjoyed (until one of the discs died) but then i played 4 then 3 and even then i was just like :ohwell:

I watched a couple of gameplay videos on Youtube and I'm not even sure how they can call this Resident Evil. I'm probably going to pass on this one unless I see it for cheap.

Very true

The first one was amazing. That was never topped. There was just something about that empty, infested mansion. The second one was great, too. I also had fun with 3 and Code Veronica, too.

The first one was a masterpiece hands down, i mean you were in a mansion solving puzzles with scary music and zombies all over, and the first time through when you got to the end you were just like "this was amazing" and 2 was a worthy follow up and 3 told the complete story of Raccoon city from the main characters perspectives.

Reason i think 4 is a worthy game is because 1-3 raccoon city was gone, done, blown off the face of the earth, so 4 was rebooting it with a fresh place and a great character, and they kept the creepiness, but one thing you gotta remember this "virus" evovles so it was only a matter of time before zombies were actually just humans that has some zombie features, (Groaning zombie walk, massive bullet damage etc.)

But 5, just i dunno, if they would;ve tied more of 4 in the mix for the story it might've made it a better game, oh well heres hoping for 6.

EDIT: what i ment to say was 5 was more of a detachment from Resident Evil's story as a whole than 4 was, at least 4 made you feel like you were playing Resident Evil weither the story didn't include zombies it still felt like a chapter in the RE story..

I know right, they went from a psychological horror thriller to a movie

I can't even imagine what 6 will be about, I don't know what else they will do anymore.

when 4 came out I was like "wth is this"
when 5 came out I was like "wth is this"

not saying they were bad, but I miss zombies.

thing is with the zombies i think they should bring them back, with the attributes of 4 and 5, like they can use weapons (but very limited like horrible aim/etc kinda like the movie land of the dead)...and they can run, i think what capcom was afraid of was that the zombies pace was too slow for todays market, so they went with a different approach like not zombies but humans that act sorta like zombies. because the pace would make it "boring" i mean the zombies were so slow in 1 anyone could kill them quiet easy if the camera was like it is in 4.
