Results from 4870 RMA - Now what?

sorry guys bit of a repost here but please read & give me some advice

I cant crossfire it with my remaining 4870 which means im losing performance & I currently dont have the funds to go 5850-5970way.

Im most possibly looking to trade for this Vapour-X 5770 but im not sure if they'd allow me to cuz obviously you gotta pay more for the Vapour X cooler, I do a lot of business with the store & have netted them quite a few sales in the past so hopefully they will be nice to me...

full list of which 5770's they currently have available is >HERE< hit me up on what seems to be the best one otherwise im still liking the vapour X

A) Sell the 5770@Full RRP & try to source up another 1gb 4870

b) Keep the 5770 & sell up the remaining 4870

C) F**k'em both! sell both n get something like a 5830 or 5850

& so the poll goes....

It's a tough call, but yeah, last option seems a good one.
A HD 5850 would outperform a HD 4870 & a HD 5770, so...why not?

Besides, a HD 5850 can even perform more if you OC...but of course you already know that...

Signlecard gives better price/performance, Crossfire avgs at max, 60% gains. Maybe we'll get some "amazing" driver from AMD, that makes better use of the gpus in Crossfire, but i think Corssfire is memory-bandwidth limited.

I stand by the rule, one GPU is always better than two. Less heat, less power used, less compatibility problems and no mocking with Crossfire profiles and lack of them.

If you can stretch your way to a 5850, great. If not you will have to make do with 5770. But I would get rid of the 4870's though. Simple

yeah but i game At high resolutions so the 256mb mem interface comes In handy.

not entirely lol i still have 1 4870. if anythings gonna be sold off first it will be the 5770 as that currently has more value. then will have to wait n see about the rest

heres an update on whats goin on.

I called the store & had a talk with the manager about my now defunct crossfire setup & he has agreed to allow me to 'trade up' that 5770 for a 5850 - my remaining 4870 is now being sold off to a friend to pay for the 5850.

well - they could be extremely nice & allow me to upgrade to a 5970 for the price of a sold 4870 but i dont think thats gonna happen. Im still gonna lose performance anyhoo. but I'l definitely clock that 5850 to 5870 speeds when its here

Sell the 5770@Full RRP & try to source up another 1gb 4870
