I have a pre-built computer, and I plan to update it (with a new mobo, ram, ect...) however I heard that I would have to reinstall Windows XP (and reactivate it). My question is, is the code on the sticker a code for the Retail of OEM version of windows XP?

you won't have to reinstall your OS unless you replace your harddrive/partition that it's installed on

Even if I upgrade every last part in the computer? (Motherboard, CPU, RAM, Video Card)
I heard that this could cause a problem for Windows XP.

Here is something I found on it while I searched Google: http://www.theeldergeek.com/replace_motherboard.htm

Yes that is the correct code for the XP. If you plan to upgrade the motherboard then yes you will have to reinstall onto the hard drive.

For things like video, RAM and CPU you will not have to reinstall.

Is there a way to avoid having to reinstall all the programs I use? That is my problem. I I need to know if a repair can be done with a OEM key. (I have a Retail CD so I can access the repair option)

You can do a repair with a OEM key but you have to use a OEM copy of XP. The only item which would make you reactivate Windows before accessing the desktop would be the board but if your not changing brand of chipset and/or process manufacturer(AMD to Intel, vice versa) then you more than likely will not have to reactivate.
