If it's worth the waiting for the 30% + perfomance? Yes. If it's worth the 200€ more? Just no, i wont spend a lot more on a GPU, just don't. That's just nuts IMO, specially for those who spend a lot on TitanX.
Yup, I'm not too keen on spending such high amounts on a graphics card either. When I bought my 780 Ti for £500 back in January 2014, it was at the very limit of what I was willing to spend. It is an awesome card though.

Take the Refund
Put up with integrated graphics for a while ( no back up spare card ? )

save some more cash

wait until the GTX 980TI has been released and is on general sale

there will be price cuts on "" Lesser cards "" after the release of the GTX 980TI

Real world reviews and "Reliability Issues" not currently known will influence your decision on if this is the card for you
highly doubt it,the 980Ti will probably be $649-699, making it so they wont really need to drop the 980 price. No price drops will happen from Nvidia till they are hit with competition from AMD.

Mentioning a month or months might help, as some of us have summer at a different time of the year.

Latest rumours are that the card ( fully enabled die, 6GB vRAM) could be seen in a month, although I suspect that the launch still needs the 390X to do likewise since there is absolutely no incentive for Nvidia to release the card when the Titan X and 980 already have AMD's present single GPU offerings covered.

I'm simplified summer as 'around June and later' and winter as 'around December to January'. But then again it's a rumor, no outsiders know the exact detail.

Beware that you may get a GTX 980 with Hynix videomemory instead of Samsung videomemory, if you really cares about overclockability of the videomemory too. Personally, I would exchange for another MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4G, since it has tad better features than Asus' Strix variant of GTX 980: LED (your PC case has window), more features like OC mode/Gaming mode via an app, higher preclocked core speed out of the box.

I would even go with Gigabyte GTX 980, but it's so damn expensive, it's around 690€ in my country and i won't pay that for sure. As for the Strix, i don't think that is a huge difference in FPS compared to others IMO.

Wouldn't getting a refund and re-buying the GTX 980 of your choice give you the Witcher 3 voucher?

Anyway, The Gigabyte GTX 980 G1 Gaming isn't the quietest GTX 980 (it's huge and long too), especially when you're getting used to the silent MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4G already.

They let me keep the Witcher 3 voucher anyways. I've already got answer from them, they confirmed the abusive coil whine on my GTX 980, they are going to test two Asus to check for coil whine and another MSI. The one that's good, they will send me. And i think they are going to offer me the difference price for the Asus.

you 2 options here, get your money back, save it for a 980ti, but I wonder you will have to add a couple of dimes more,

Get another brand of single GTX 980, I will recommend Gigabyte G1-Gaming, solid cards, there are several reviews of it also I have been using gigabyte products pretty much, have never gotten any problem on all hardware used,

also I work with computers and sh*t, every time that one of my customers asks for a complete rig / build to be done I used gigabyte motherboards and graphics cards, so far I have no complains about hardware issues,

Mentioning a month or months might help, as some of us have summer at a different time of the year.

As @HumanSmoke said, don't expect it till after the 390X gets released. They don't need to. It's position in their stable is basically to retake the crown from the competition AMD is about to finally put up. So "summer" is after AMD does their thing this summer.

Yea but Strix is naked and only god and cold chip help ASUS and his VRM from overheating again.
They can't put cooler on PCB as hat without protection and pads and sinks on whole VRM and memory.
150mV is over stock is dead for temperatures on such hardware and higher power target.
I would choose reference GTX980 and replace with SC BIOS from TPU change memory speed with BIOS Tweaker for 100MHz and sing. If card allow little more I would pull slider in BIOS Tweaker few percent more and for GPU Core and that's it. On reference model you can install BIOS from all models with reference PCB, there are and 120-130MHz higher clock available.

Yea but Strix is naked and only god and cold chip help ASUS and his VRM from overheating again.
I don't get either why people like ASUS so much. I have never seen any card from them using advanced integrated power stage circuits, always shitload of phases to get away with traditional PWM + 2 separate mosfets non-integrated design (yeah low RDS but still toasty).
For example, Titan X VRM that has only 6 phases and pushes 275W while being still cool and overclockable. Courtesy of DrMOS integrated circuits that combine PWM and both mosfets on the same die for huge efficiency gains.
Also a reason to choose some non-reference over stock gtx 980, because of this:
geforce_gtx980_titan_titanx_vrm_m.jpg

For example, I'd rather buy something like this (GTX 980 Jetstream from Palit)
980jetstream_73881.jpg

rather than something like this (stock nvidia):
nvidia-gtx-980-b-1200-80.jpg

Although gtx 980 needs much less power than Titan, cool VRM and overclocking headroom are something worth looking for, because GM204 can be power hungry if overvolted.

So, here's my point of situation:
- They tested one MSI and Asus, both whined hard. They called me saying that they were going to test one last MSI. They tested it and called me saying that this last one the coil whine was almost not existent but it would everything depend on my hearing. They send me this last one saying that if it bothers me, i will return it back and get full refund of the card .

I will test the GPU tomorrow, if it bothers me i will get something in second hand that i can sell after without losing money, and wait for AMD cards since 980TI is going to be very out of my budget and AMD cards will not have (I WISH LOL) coil whine issues.

Well, let's see what i get tomorrow. On the call we even tried to search to alternatives, but it simples do not exist, there is nothing viable on the market at the moment except GTX 9xx series, it's all AMD's fault that is sleeping for ages and leaving Nvidia do whatever they want the prices.

Or you could argue it those who buy the cards at the increase price fault. nVidia can't force anyone to buy them so obviously people still feel that it is a good deal.

That's some seriously good customer service you're getting there. Which shop is it?

It's a Portuguese store, i never bought nothing from them because they are in another point of the country that i am. But they were offering free shipping on 250€+ , so i bought the GPU from them and yes it's the best customer service i've ever had in years from other stores. Really amazing store.
