Yeah they are not that crash hot are they. But if they can bring prices down on everything else then I suppose its a win.

Looks like XFX fixed their cooler for the ~~7970~~280X. Temps and noise look great. Overclock is lacking however.

Looks more like an ad for the new drivers, Mantle and a price drop. The real question is how does the 290 and 290x compare to the 780 and Titan in performance and price. Don't care for them restricting the cooler option to reference only either.

As I've said before, I think the real eye opener will be when Maxwell and AMD's answer to it comes.

Looks like there is no real reason to upgrade from my 7950. Since some of these cards are just rebranded 7xxx series, the drivers from here on out should still be relevant for 7xxx owners. One can hope anyway...

On a relevant front the Asus Matrix Platinum is £60 more than the 7970 (same spec) version (£320 versus £260). Got to feel bad for the person that buys the R9 version. I believe they are identical cards.

I'm not defending Nvidia either, the 770's came out higher than the equivalent same 680 versions.

Sad for the unknowing consumer, good for us I guess.

maybe they didn't want another bunch of chips out there since every console will be using these current gen chips. Makes Drivers easier all around. Who knows we might even see a jump in performance in future games that look as good or better than current ones that we struggle in.

Its good to know that my 7950 will benefit from driver updates for some time yet. I'm excited to see what mantle can do.
