EA announced during its third quarter financial call that due to poor performance Medal of Honor has been taken “out of rotation.”

The publisher has decided not to continue the series following poor sales. “The game was solid, but the focus on combat authenticity did not resonate with consumers,” said EA COO Peter Moore. “Critics were polarized and gave the game scores which were frankly lower than deserved. This one is behind us now. We are taking Medal of Honor out of rotation and have to bring year-over-year continuity to our shooter offerings.”

“We’re in a hit-driven business where it’s about what you can build in a certain period of time and really deliver for the marketplace, and frankly we missed on Medal of Honor. And we take responsibility for that,” added EA labels president Frank Gibeau.

Well, to be honest it wasn't very good. I started to play multiplayer with MOH Airborne. They should have stayed with WWII since modern warfare is taken by BF and COD.

To add, most bought MOH only for early Bf4 beta access honestly i was gambling with myself to buy it only for bf4 beta access since the game itself was just boring

I only remember the first game really. Medal of Honor Allied Assault. The assault on Omaha beach was really something unforgettable. I don't think i've ever experienced anything like it in any game. CoD 1 and 2 came close with it's "tiny cog in a big war machine" feel but the Omaha beach in MoH:AA falls into its own category. It was like Saving Private Ryan, just that you were actually there. Games lack spectacular in-game events these days really...

I agree 100% Medal of Honor Allied Assault was by far the best game in it's series. Everything about that game was awesome the sound, Music, graphics and store were amazing. I've not had another game grab me like that game. If devs would make a game that complete they wouldn't have to worry about money. :toast:

MoH had its best times in PlayStation era (1999-2000). Original and Underground are the best.

I still love Underground so much

MOHAA was by far the best online FPS of it's time and of the series. I played that game for two years straight. Every day. Loved it.

This newest game I bought and enjoyed but I usually fall into the minority anyway. I didn't buy it for multiplayer though. I have BF3 for that. I bought it for single player.

MOH was good on the playstation. Agreed that Allied Assualt was awesome. It just can't compete with call of duty. I don't even like the new call of duty games other than nazi zombies. I wish they would make another WWII version. Call of Duty 2 is definitely one of my favorite all time games.

See we'll have to agree to disagree there. IMO MOHAA was much better than COD. I bought both games and COD and COD2 could not pull me away from MOHAA. But over the years COD pulled away and continued to make a good solid game. EA on the other hand dropped the ball a long time ago.

TBH, EA are guilty of wrecking their own game, I bought MoH 1&2 for my PS1 back in the day and i totally loved the game, then came Allied Assault a game that was truely epic beyond proportions for its time even in single player mode.

I truely loved MoH:AA as much as i truely loved CoD1 and i was still playing CoD1 when most of the community had already left to go play CoD2 but the final nail in the coffin with CoD1 was that you had to hack the config files to enable widescreen resolutions which were becoming massively popular and not to mention BF2 which was already in full swing,

Every MoH game after Allied Assault has been nothing but a complete shambles that never really captured or lived up to the essence of the earlier titles.

IMO MoH could have been something really special but instead they decided to make it the retarded forgotten brother of the CoD franchise with killstreaks, perks and all sorts of other bullshit you can think of in multi-player.

One of the most fun and unforgettable experiences for me was when MoH:AA maps were ported into CoD1:UO, I spent HOURS playing on custom map servers and i dont regret a second playing on it when I really should have been studying for my exams.

EA have truely wrecked what could have been an amazing franchise. Its no different the console fanboys saying that CoD:MW1, MW2, MW3, or BLops 1&2 is the best CoD because imo CoD1:UO was always the best by miles and nothing is ever going to change that. and thats the sad thing, Console players will never truely know how great that game was because they get a cut down version of the game on PSN or Xbox live.

I am real disappointed in EA

Sorry EA, not paying to play a simulator of how to kill civilians on the other side of the planet, already bad enough it happens in RL.

Just to let you guys know MOH:AA was developed by the same crew that made Call of Duty. They left EA to make Call of Duty after MOH:AA. They are now back at EA making an undisclosed game.

Me too !!!!!!!!! But with MOH: Allied Assault.

This notice is very sad, maybe they have to stick with singlayer campaign and not trying to compete against BF and COD.

Not that I have seen. Lowest Ive seen is 29.99

Yeah those guys left EA to form Infinity Ward. When Activision screwed them out of their MW2 money (300 million) they went back to EA under the name "Respawn Entertainment"

Claiming it got undeserved criticism, then saying they take responsibility just makes it obvious what the problem is. EA is in denial, they don't take feedback well and learn from it like good devs/pubs do. Throwing a tantrum and blaming the problem on unfair criticism then scrapping the series is not taking responsibility, it's short changing the MoH fanbase.

You can't just take a core story/gameplay concept and call the end product "authentic". Warfighter has a lot of technical problems with graphics such as texture flickering. The console versions were particularly bad technically. It doesn't stop there though.

On the authenticity side, the AI isn't very good either. Add to that a ridiculous attempt to vary the numerous breaches in the game via several ways to do it, and it only feels more repetitive and absurd. Most breeches are done by the protagonist himself too, which is far from authentic.

Whenever EA talks about their problems, they only make it all the more clear they themselves are their biggest problem.

They hated the first one also and that wasn't justified at all. Most reviewers didn't like it because it wasn't CoD. Hell I saw some negative reviews of BF3 when it came out.

I know blaming EA is cool but its not always justified.

Well, to be honest it wasn't very good. I started to play multiplayer with MOH Airborne. They should have stayed with WWII since modern warfare is taken by BF and COD.

Sheesh they could of made MOH way better than COD but that would of been stupid to do.. They tried some thing else and failed.

Sad though as COD is not all that either and hopefully people will start to wake up what crap COD has really turned in to..

They? When you say "they", keep in mind we're not just talking review sites here. Look at the sub 55/100 Metacritic user scores for Warfighter PC, 360 and PS3 and it's clear that it's not just site critics glossing over the game unfairly as some have implied. User scores for MoH 2010 averaged about 69/100, and only because the PS3 version for some odd reason scored way higher than PC or 360.

It's also not true at all that it wasn't liked for not being like CoD. Seriously, that's your analogy? I mean that's become more cliche than bashing EA. The problem with the MoH series has nothing to do with CoD. The problem lies in EA's increasing neglect to deliver a product that isn't bug riddled, and it's really not that authentic either. If anything the combat in many ways is gimmicky and contrived.

Regardless of the reason though, the bottom line is offering up a competitive product, or as EA put it, "...what you can build in a certain period of time in a hit-driven business". The problem is, if they fail to recognize what the real problem is by placing blame, they're going to continue to fail. Scrapping a well known series vs looking at the root cause is a knee jerk, bandaid solution that may end up solving nothing.

This is not something as simple as shooters that don't have a CoD formula fail, far from it. We all know and have seen plenty of shooters succeed, and they don't need BF3's massive mp support to do it. MoH, by EA's own decision, evolved from the original arcade game it was to a tactical shooter, which is not at all the CoD fan's type of game and has zero to do with the CoD fanbase. EA just weren't prepared well enough for what it takes to deliver such a product.
