I have a Sapphire 1GB 2900Pro that has gone south, it started with my screen flickering intermittently and eventually, would not go into 3D mode (period). I took it out and used my old 850. A week or two later, I put the 2900 back in, and it worked fine for a few days, then crapped out again.

I just wrote a note to Sapphire RMA about how to get it fixed/replaced. I've got the box, receipt and everything. Bought it back in Oct, 2007. They claim a 2-year warrantee.

Anyone have experience with Sapphire support and RMA? What do you think they'll do in this situation?

i have a sapphire 2900XT 1gb gddr4, i have wanted to RMA it for a long time because of the vivo

sigh those guys, they say the card is vivo but as far as ATI is conserned in their drivers vivo is something they have desided to never ever support, arrg isnt that annoying? hmm i wonder if i RMA'ed it if they would send me a 3870 VIVO, does the 3870 VIVO work or does it not work like the 2900?

by vivo i mean the video in... when its used it makes the computer hault [or just 1 core on a dual core cpu sometimes, but usualy leads to a full hault later]

I prodded about the VIVO on these cards a while back. It is useless unless you have capture software to go with - CCC is supposed to provide all of the hardware interface layer for it to work, but you need the dedicated capture software. Finding anyone with experience with anything but a dedicated capture card is a tough task - I never took the time to try it (have old Hi8 footage I'd like to get on DVD).

If they do replace it with something newer, it better be good. This is a 1GB card (yes I know that's really only good on paper).

thats wrong btw, 1gb isnt just good on paper, its not just 1gb its gddr4 and its default clock is 1000mhz, with a 512bit interface that makes it 128gb/sec, all and all, there is a pretty big gap between them that you will see made up for if you look at the heavy overclockers in the 3dmark06 results

thats why the highest 2900 score is higher than the highest 3870 score.

is also why you can still get like 200 bux for a 2900 XT if you sell it in a good place [im looking to trade mine for a like 7900 gs or x1950 pro (or something like that) plus a bunch of old NES/SNES/gb/gbc/gba games]

the vivo in those worked fine, and performance wise they are pretty ok, and power useage wise they arnt really bad, my psu rules, but i would rather use a bit less power in idle mode to save moneys and the 2900 XT cant underclock very low in 2d :(
