Firstly I wanna say that I dont know anything routers :p

So I've been using a router that my ISP gave me like 3 or 4 years ago and my internet speed is pretty bad.
I'm downloading with 700KB/s and Upload is like 0.6KB/s (Yes I know pretty bad) I mean I live close to the (internet center dunno how its called) basically from the place the the signal comes from. I've called my ISP like thousand times and what they do is that they fix it for like 1month (so I download with 800KB/s) and then it goes back to 700KB/s. My uncle who lives like a bit further away from the "internet center" and he downloads with 1.5MB/s.

Conclusion:
I need to change my router and replace the USB Wifi adapter (that is plugged to my pc) with a PowerLine adapter which I've heard is a lot better.

Any suggestions ?

What is the model of the router you have now?

You'd probably be better off getting a Wirleess AC router and AC wireless adapter over powerline. Though if you are really far away from the router, powerline might be the better option.

My Router(Is it bad ? Is it worth replacing?):

My WIFI Adapter that goes to my PC:

Also something that I forgot to say is that I don't wanna pay like 100$ for a router and that there is one bedroom between the router and the adapter so its like 5 meters +/- with 2 walls between.

Call you ISP and get have them update the hardwar. In 4 years there have been changes

If you downstream is bad a powerline adapter wont help. Fine what you DL speed is not wireless

From a long time Wifi user, I can tell you powerline is FANTASTIC, I have been using it now for 7 months I think and its just great, easy and great.

But seeing your adapter and know TP-link is pretty solid I doubt that is the issue,
That router on the other hand....that looks...pretty crap

@JESTER Well I can call them and they will be like "yeye just pay that and we send a new one". I was like me buying a router .. like Asus or something (I dont know anything about them :p I have no idea).

@ZoneDymo Router is posted above(3rd post). Well.... since I'm downloading with like 700kb/s I believe powerline would get me to 800kb/s because of (http://screenshot.sh/m7z0hNWN2buxw) that's when I go to the Status tab in my router page.

You need to hard wire to your PC to your router or Modem (not wireless)

There is no point in buying a Powerline adapter until you see that your download is from the drop

What speed are you paying for? If your not getting it shut it off and shop around or talk to your ISP. But if you cant tell them what is going on then of course there going to blow you off

That router looks like more than just a router, but actually a DSL/VIOP gateway. So it is more complicated than just buying a new router off the shelf and replacing it as most routers don't have the built in DSL modem and VOIP hardware.

Are you using the VOIP function of that router? If not, then that makes things easier. If you aren't using the VOIP function, then you can likely get a standard ADSL modem, then connect your own router to that modem.

The first thing you want to do is get a list of compatible modems for your service from your ISP. If there are not plain ol' modems on there, and your only option is to get another gateway, that is OK but not ideal. Make sure you get a gateway that you can put in bridge mode. Then get the new gateway and your own router. Put the ADSL gateway in bridge mode and connect your own router. You'll want to get a good Wireless AC router and a good Wireless AC network adapter. A good wireless AC router and a good Wireless AC network adapter will be better than Powerline. I have both, I've tested both. AC wins most of the time.

As for your download speeds, your gateway status page says 8189Kbps download, that translates to 1024KB/s or 1MB/s download speed. But the status page on a ADSL router can never be trusted. That is only the absolute maximum theoretical speed you can get, 75% of that speed would be reasonable. Which would be right about what you are getting now. So improving your ISP connection would likely be what you need to do before worrying about improving your internal network.

Tried using ethernet cable(5e I believe its the decent one :p) from my router to my laptop and same download speed (maybe just a bit higher).

I'm paying for "up to 24Mbps" speed.

Nope I'm not using any VOIP stuff. Also aren't like every routers the same ? Just so they support the phone cable(dsl).

Well yeahh
I have 3 options:
1) Get the latest router that they provide
2) Wait for the fiber support in my area (probably around a year)
3) Wait until the contract ends (until January) and switch to another ISP. (The thing is that I've tried 3 ISPs here and 2 of them are the same and one of them was pretty bad :p)

Which one do you recommend ?

If you used a direct wire and got the same speed, then that is the most you are going to get. And, as I said, that isn't surprising since that seems like that is the most you'll get with your connection.

Upgrading to a better modem might give a better speed, as I've seen the older modems get worse connections and hence lower speeds, but I doubt it will make a big difference.

No, most routers do not have ADSL modems built in.

Its not the router that's the problem, and a power line adapter won't help ether. I guess you wait
