Hi,
At the end of september I sent my Gigabyte Geforce RTX 3070 for repair because I had horrible artifacts rendering useless my computer. I knew it was a faulty gpu because I tried it on a friend's computer.
I got it back two days ago. However, I still have random artifacts freezing the screen. And every time it happens, there is a spike from 0 to 100% on the task manager. Even when the pc is idle and there are no background process. Also, sometimes instead of artifacting, I get a black screen for 5s.
I contacted the support but they told me they ran tests for 40 hours to make sure it was repaired. So, the problem is no longer my gpu but another component according to them.
However, when the artifacts first appeared, I hoped it was only my psu getting too old or a windows update going wrong. So, I changed the psu and got a new ssd so I can have a clean install without losing anything. I also did a memtest to check the rams. So, I know none of these components are faulty.
As for the cpu and motherboard, the pc works perfectly fine when I remove the gpu. I use Photoshop and make big OCR tasks without any problem.
Maybe the problem is software related. In safe mode I don't have any artifacts or black screen. Same when I use DDU to remove nvidia drivers. But the moment I install the drivers, I play peekaboo with my monitor. If it's software related I don't know what to do as I tried every version from the latest to the ones released in september.
I also tried underclocking the gpu with MSI Afterburner but it didn't work. I still got artifacts. However, right before artifacting, the gpu clock went from 240 MHz to 1815 MHz and the memory went to 7000 MHz.
Does anyone know what to do?
Here is my specs:
