Rtx2060 super making clicking sound, but not from fans

Hello, i have a Rtx2060 super 8GB for around a year, i started to hear vague clicking sounds couple of months ago, i thought it was from my case fans, it happened before. I've decided to rebuild my pc and got all new parts, just wanted to keep the gpu. After assembly, the new pc posted, i installed Windows 10 and all was well, untill windows updated gpu drivers. Because now the case was open i could hear the clicking sound clearly. I've checked if the fans are obstructed by any wires, took the gpu out, checked for any visible damage, installed it back to my old pc, tried pressing on the fans, tried stopping the fans one by one to see if one of them is faulty, but nothing helped, and the sound is not coming from the fans. Its more loud and frequent under heavy load. It doesn't sound like coil whine, its like electronic clicking. Its not consistent, it can come and go at idle. The temperature doesn't matter aswell, it happens as low as 35⁰C or 56⁰C+. The card doesn't crash under heavy load, works stable. But the sound is driving me crazy. I've recorded the sound https://sndup.net/9t89
Does anyone know what could be the cause of this sound? Is there a possibility to fix it?

i havnt heard the sound because im not into clicking and downloading off site im not sure about but at a guess it could be coil whine which is quite common and nothing to worry about.

I had a similar problem with a GTX1070 a couple of years back, I was convinced it was GPU coil whine, turns out it was the PSU, it only happened at high load and luckily I had an old spare 2nd PSU to test it out, with that one installed the noise was gone, not saying that is the case here but maybe something to look into.

yep sounds like coil whine, i had a R9 about 8ish years ago and it sounded the same but a bit louder i just put up with it but i have heard of people putting a glob of hot glue over the offending part to quiet it a bit but me id just leave as is.

Something's vibrating ever so slightly and resonating throughout the card. Like Tatty_One says it's a result of the PSU delivering power in a certain way that causes resonating in the card, and could be solved with a new PSU.

I tried it on 2 different PSUs, same effect. One was 500W, new one 750W.

It could be the card then, seems to be a common issue with the 2060. Best solution was this.

"My RTX 2060 also has coil whine. I just enable V-Sync an it stops."

So it seems to be an issue when the gpu is giving its all, try setting v-sync or limiting the fps by setting the nvidia control panel 3d settings, global settings, max framerate to 60fps.

sounds like a PSU Coil to me.
in 8/10 cases (Loud/intensive) Coilwhine is caused by the PSU.
i have a lot of cards that have coilwhine with my EVGA GQ PSU.
all of them are completely silent with my Corsair AX1000

I tried limiting fps to 60, enabling v-sync didn't help.
I might try co change for a 3 PSU but I'm not sure which one to choose and will it fix the current problem. Its like a lottery now, buy a new PSU and see if I'm lucky.
1000W would be excessive for my build.

it's not the wattage. it's the quality of the components.

a decent higher tier PSU helps a lot with coil whine due to much cleaner power delivery.

anything from a corsair HX, bequiet dark power 12 (not the pro version),
or if available a seasonic prime TX 750 which is sometimes on sale for like 160€. (or the cheaper PX version)

My new Corsair TX750M didn't help.
well.. then it's the card.
maybe a coil became loose (there are inductors which are a coil in a metal box that has a seperate upper part. this one can become loose over time and create a lot of whining noise.)

It almost has to be coil whine.

The fix? Listen to heavy metal for 40 years as I have and it goes away.

I'm one of those people who loves silent PCs. And any strange noises from a rig is not acceptable. I even have loud pc fans, or water cooling blocks. Light ambient buzzing of silent fans is much better then loud noise of whining up and down of components.

look at it like this its not a strange noise its the sound of your gpu working, its like pain is there to let you know your alive :) really the only way to stop it in the long term is to get another gpu if its too much to stand but some heavy rock like motorhead or alike could help :):rockout:.
