Red Dead Redemption 2 will be announced for PC on the 22nd of April at 9AM PST (California). It will be releasing July 9th, 2019. The bad news, it will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store. It will not get a Steam release, this is not a time exclusive deal. The reason being is Take-Two made a deal with Epic, allowing Take-Two to take full profit on DLC released for the game. Valve currently takes a 30% profit from any in-game purchases.

what a shame. But then again im sure Rockstar Games have already made their money off the games initial release on consoles not to give an absolute fuck about continued game sales.... Im mean sure it will help buy more swimming pools but console sales + suitcases full of cash from Epic + in game microtransactions = Idgaf. Their pools have already been filled with gold dust and they have nothing to worry about by making such a move.

I wouldn't be surprised if Epic did land this game as an exclusive along with it being on the Rockstar Store but it would surprise me a bit if it wasn't a timed exclusive. Rockstar sold many millions of copies of GTA V on Steam but we'll see.

Except that the Epic client experience is crap compared to Steam. On the plus side, there seem to be reports of quite a few titles that will run without an internet connection or the Epic client running.

If you spend much time on PC gaming sites you will see "No Steam. No Buy" countless times from gamers. These people are saying they will pirate the game when they would have bought it but only on Steam but what people say on the net and what they actually do are often not the same.

There is evidence that millions are signing up for the Epic Store and buying games there no matter what we see fellow gamers saying. An example would be Metro Exodus where it was reported that the game sold 2.5 times better on EGS than Last Light did on Steam. Now an argument could be made that Exodus was simply more desirable and more bought it which is true but the sales on console only went up 1.5 times for Exodus.

What Epic is doing is clearly working out well for them so far as long as they continue to improve their store.

That's the thing, epics launcher is 2 years old. They have tested it with ut and then fortnight blew up.

It's ok now, when it's still new. How bad was origin or uplay when they started? Shit how bad was steam 15 years ago?

If you spend much time on PC gaming sites you will see "No GOG. No Buy" countless times from gamers.
For some of us it reads as corrected. However, there are alternatives...
These people are saying they will pirate the game when they would have bought it but only on Steam but what people say on the net and what they actually do are often not the same.
This might be a stretch. Some will, sure, but not most. Some will just do without. There are literally tons of great games to be had on PC and Epic exclusives represents just a small fraction of that. For example, I'm not at all interested in Borderlands or RedDead series games, so those exclusives have no effect or sway with me. Couldn't care less.
so far as long as they continue to improve their store.
They have a long way to go.

Shit how bad was steam 15 years ago?
What are you talking about? It's still crap now.

Same tactic they used with GTA V, surely?

I never know what manchildren on this forum are always moaning about.
I've got every possible launcher on my pc.
Each of them is pleasant and quick to use, with clear interface.
None of them causes any trouble, crashes, causes the pc to slow down,no problems whatsoever.
They allow you to backup your games effortlessly.

It's a funny thing about Steam fans. They have tunnel vision. I'm sure you remember when EA launched Origin around 8 years ago and all the drama about boycotting that store because EA was making some of their own EA Published games exclusive to Origin. Gamers were demanding that EA put their games on Steam too or they wouldn't buy them. They failed to see that Valve had been doing the same thing for 7 years already on Steam with their own Valve Published games.

What valve have done is to trick people into thinking buying games is a game.

People don't get it is to line their pockets, not for our (devs or gamers) good.

RDR2 coming for pc awesome:respect:

Getting it for epic shit laucher. Hell no:banghead:

I haven forgot about metro exodus on lauch day on epic. After that i decide never epic again and i mean that:mad:

If you wunder why i hate epic. Here is why.

Back when metro and far cry new dawn lauched same day. I got keys and activated them on epic for metro and far cry on uplay.

The day before official lauch day. I fired up epic and uplay to preload games.

Uplay - perfect new game in my game folder showed up as it shut be and i cut preload right away.

Epic - no game in my game folder and no option for preload wtf:kookoo:

Just past midnight.

Uplay - yeah far cry started right up and worked.

Epic - stil no game in my folder or preload option:eek::confused:

After playing far cry for a few hours, i went to bed and next morning.

Uplay - far cry ready to play:D as it is already preloaded.

Epic - now metro showed up in my game folder and i cut download it. But now i have to wait for it to download and finnish before any metro gaming. So first way past afternoon time on lauch day i cut play metro. Thanks epic:cry:

I am never getting a game for epic ever again. I dont want another game laucher and if they cant even let me preload a game well no thanks.

I want RDR2 but that will be on rockstar store or something that might not be so legal. I refuse to support epic ever again.

As long as it's a game I really, really want, I don't give a monkey's whose platform/launcher it's on.
Both Origin and Uplay do the job and work perfectly well with Steam. The industry needs more competition in this respect anyway, since Valve have been pulling all the strings for far too long.
I've tried the Epic launcher and it's a launcher. Big deal.

That's a valid point, some people should be careful about what software they have on their system. But if you're in that camp you shouldn't have games installed on a system which contains international state secrets.

For the rest of us what does it matter if the Chinese intelligence finds out about our porn preferences? The Americans, British, Israeli and a whole host of other intelligence agencies are already in all our systems anyway.

All the other lauchers i have, there you can preload and play after midnight. Epic failed that importet thing in my opinion hard, so im done with epic.

If thats what you think 'Private Personal Data' pertains to then there is no point discussing the matter further. You may carry on.

This time i will not come back to epic. Not gonna happen. They dissapointed me the first time i ever used epic and that whas the one chance they had and they failed on that. All the other lauchers i have, there you can preload and play after midnight. Epic failed that importet thing in my opinion hard, so im done with epic.

According to their roadmap they already have. Is this incorrect?

Recent features added. Regional pricing:

"Added regional pricing for countries and territories that have previously used the US prices and refunded the difference to customers from those countries that have purchased games in the store prior to the change."

There roadmap with timeframes of features to be added and what features have already been added can be found here:

Good. I wonder how long before all the steam fanbois realise that epic is doing better deals for Devs is good for them too?

The experience I get while play the game is what is important to me, and the Epic game store client is garbage compared to Steam. Steam is part of the game experience to me, it is an important part at that, thanks to all the extra features it adds.

It is only a matter of time before Epic start to run out of money and can't give huge cash incentives up front for timed exclusives. And the actual difference in how much the devs get per copy sold isn't actually that much more than Steam.

The only benefit that might come from Epic is Steam might decide to lower their take a little to be closer to what Epic takes, but that would basically put Epic's game store out of business, because no dev would be using it at this point.
