If true, the card is a Lightning. It's MSI's fastest card. Also - they got burned by the 780 - 780ti swap over so they didn't do a 980 Lightning, instead focused on the 980ti. So if this is real I wouldn't expect a faster Polaris card.

This guy changed the reference cooler to that one which was transplanted from another MSI for some odd reason related to the NDA in order to avoid it. It is normal for this cooler to not work well for a PCB unknown back then me thinks. His ref cooler showed him 70C max. If those results are real we are in for a great release and IF a 485 (full polaris 10 GPU) is planned to be released soon after 480 for about $300, nVidia will lower 1070 & 1080 prices instantly in order to keep being somewhat competitive as 485 should directly hit perf lvl of 1070.

Of course that is not to say it's true, most think Kyle is Green Goblin after all.

Equally though we have seen Pascal can throttle on the FE cards despite the low power consumption/TDP.

3429 vs 3965, thats 15% slower than your 390x, but then again it should be about half the price of it so... i dont really know what to think about this... or even if that card really is the rx480

Sorry, but I am with the others in stating that this is fake. Here is my reasoning:

1: Its an MSI Lightning card? Even if they just ripped that cooler off and put it on that still makes no sense in how they would fit it without modding.

2: 6+8Pin, Why on earth would it need that for its TDP? I mean an 8 pin is fine but both? Even for a high OC card that seems a bit much for that card.

3: DVI port. The outputs for that card are like the Fury's. Its only 3 DP's and an HDMI so unless this is a special manufacturer version with the DVI added that would still leave alot of question unanswered.

4: Temps. Even if the cooler is not matched right the core should still be well under 90c for that card.

But that is just my opinion on the matter. Not trying to put a damper on things just seems a bit fishy to me.

Well it handed my 290 it's ass if that's any indication of what it is.

Anyone know what driver he was using? This was at 1180/1250 (memory overclock issues) and my 5820K@4.7, but the benchmark doesn't show it breaking 4.2?

It appears like clickbait to me. Speculation at it's finest!!

However even though it shows as 8+6 pin, there might be some plausibility to it since it's MSI's Lightning brand. But this is so early. The highest-end OC cards don't usually appear at least until 6 months after a cards launch. This makes me question the validity of the person who leaked this.

MSI tends to go all out with their Lightning, but I don't understand why they would on this particular card since Lisa Su herself indicated that another card would be revealed at the $299 price point? Just weird.

This doesn't make any sense. They had an actual card during launch event and it only had single 6pin. If they just used a different cooler for a RX480 because they didn't want to somehow give away it's RX480 it would still have just 1x 6pin.
And even if it is real and it's MSI Lightning model that could have such power input for maximum OC, hasn't MSI released Lightning models later in the life cycle of new GPU's and not on launch day? As far as I remember they always released normal models first and Lightning arrived months later? All this seems very fishy.
