RX 460 Bricked after flashing?

Hi, yesterday i just unlocked my card for the 2nd time with the help of this article i read here https://overclocking.guide/amd-radeon-rx-460-unlocking-1024-stream-processors/ , i’ve done it once and it ran smoothly UNTIL one day i resetted my windows which messed up the amd drivers, saying code 43 AMD card not recognizeable etc, so i figured out how to flash back to original BIOS, and i succeeded up until yesterday when i tried to do it again, forgetting about the code 43. Then i managed to do it successfully, restarted my PC, then the code 43 appeared. So i panicked, and tried to reflash the card using the BIOS that i backed up before doing it. But, the file had a .t1 extension, so i copied it and changed it to .rom so it could work with ATIflash. So i flashed the BIOS back with the ATIflash provided in the download IN WINDOWS, thinking that could work. So i entered the commands and the file name (atiflash -f -p 0 xxx.rom) then after doing it the atiflash window instantly closed. Then i restarted my PC, which made it BEEP 4 TIMES at starting, 1 long beep and 3 short beeps, and after that it won’t load anything, just a black screen.

Today, i managed to get my hands on an friend’s old graphics card, and when i put it on my pc along with my bricked card, it recognizes the bricked card, but in GPU-Z everything is written as UNKNOWN. Then i saw this article on using ATI Winflash, an ATI flash but using windows, http://www.overclock.net/forum/67-a...tiwinflash-how-flash-bios-your-ati-cards.html , then i tried to do this on the cmd as an admin, BUT it said something like “The specified path does not exist.”. So how do i deal with this? Really need to use my PC, please help! Thanks so much.

There is a decent article at the Mining Bios Repository, use the search function here.

@cdawall, @silentbogo, @buildzoid, @Solaris17, @infrared, @Final_Fighter, @Law-II @MrGenius might help you recover the card.

By the way once you recover, you may want to change your screen name if possible.

At least you tried recovering, but as you have learned bios flashing is not recommended unless under strict instruction or instructed to do so by board makers technical support system.

Hopefully it isn't damaged internally and that it can be recovered.

By the way check power connectors and make sure card is fully seated.

All you needed to do was run the ATiKpatcher and it would have fixed the code 43. What you described was an automatic driver update.

do a flash with the -f command from command line. Use the modded BIOS you knew was working.

Ok its not for you to mine, it's to give you a clue on how to recover. Please see my last post for further info

By the way read the first several posts of this please.

https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/mining-bios-repository.237382/

Ok so i already tried to do the ATIWinflash method, but it says "Cannot find discrete video card" on the old version of the program, and on the newer version it says "Error reading from ROM". How do i fix this?

I already tried reinstalling the driver many times, it says success but it fails everytime. Also i have no access to the ATIWinflash because of what i said above. Please help me, this is very important, i don't want to spend another money on a new card. Thanks.

I meant before you bricked it all you needed was the patcher.

Code:
In the cmd window ise this command to flash your cards with a new VBIOS
AtiFlash.exe -f -p 0 path-to-new-vbios.rom

Where -f means force flash, and -p 0 means flashing the card in PCIE slot 0.
You can use -p 1, -p 2, -p 3, etc. to choose the card you want to flash.

if that doesn't work

You might need a bios reprogrammer at worst or attempt the 1-8 pin short method

Should I just take my PC to a local repair store?

They may or may not be able to fix it, depends on if they have specialized equipment or not-they typically tell you to replace the card as its easier to do than do a bios reflash. When it comes to gpu repairs we tend to be on our own. Follow the directions cdawall and i have given, if it fails you will need a bios chip programmer and alot of prayer.

You may need to bite the bullet and buy a better card and stop doing this charade all together.

So do i do the method in the video? Ok will try, thanks.

Ok, MY PC IS NOW OFFICIALLY WORKING! Thanks for all the help and support!

Now please do not do bios flashing.

1 thing, if overclocking use msi afterburner. If you want to flash make sure to keep the original bios file the name it's supposed to be, make 3 copies and modify just 1, write all names down exactly how they are.

Well, I don't know exact model of your card, but I shared bios from mine. Please check is that correct for you, it could be not.

Wrong, you both are...

There is alot more to it than just bios version

We need clear legible pictures of white stickers from back of card/ and sometimes on the side of heatsink. Also if the monitor is blank to the card we need the card heatsink removed, ram clean of thermal compound and a clear picture of all of the ram surrounding the gpu die snd a close up legible pic of 1 ram chip. Also if possible a gpu-z screenshot too.
