Hello everyone hoping that maybe someone can help I bought this card for the fans and to see if I could get it work as it was displaying for the person I got it from but windows would lockup during driving install so I assumed that it has a bad bios but I when I've looked I can't find any bios for this card it is a msi gaming x rx 480 8gb with micron memory and I am hoping that maybe someone has this bios just to see if I can breathe some life back into as there is no display but I get a b2 postcode error that is the card failed to initiate. I've got it to show up in gpuz but the bios must be wrong all of the ones I've tried as gpuz says there is 0mb of memory and doesn't see and bus width or that and I've see other people have the same thing and after a correct bios flash fixed the problem but I just can't find a bios for this card anywhere I have looked through all of the vbios on here and not one of them is for micron memory and I have stripped the card down and the chip is fine all the 12v is going where it should and the chip is heating up so I am sure that it is a bios issue just I either need to make a bios which I don't know how to do or I need someone to supply me one for micron memory and help would be greatly appreciated

Are you sure it is a GamingX? I thought all of those had Samsung. Could you post a screenshot of GPU-Z please.

I can show you but if you check the pics out it shows it as a gaming x and gpuz sees it as pollaris 10 with micron memory I just need to refit the card into my system

I can

get a gpu-z screenshot for me and posted here please

Bro you can't assume that and also if the card is not able to power a monitor correctly meaning that you can't get the desktop displayed using the card, it could very well be a micron BIOS on a card with Samsung or hynix or elpida memory.

Sometimes gpu-z will display 0, 0 on current gpu/ram sppeds in compare to the true values in defaults

im putting it into my system but I had the same thought and no matter what bios I put on it wither that would be a Samsung bios or Hynix or an rx 580 bios doesn't matter no display and always says micron memory

You need to take the HSF off and confirm physically if the vram chips are indeed Micron as you have said, I think is what is being said because it won't post and GPU-Z could just be reading a wrong bios flash to the card with different vram chips

See my above post, also GPU-Z is reporting 0mhz for clock speed and vram which we know to be incorrect, so you assuming that the reported vram chips are correct by GPU-Z reading a borked BIOS flash which has allsorts wrong with it doesn't help, pull the HSF read the actual vram chips

Pull the card heatsink off, get a picture of a ram chip close up (clear letters), and then a far pic with all ram chips surrounding the gpu die, clean gpu die and heatsink, apply fresh thermal compound on gpu die.

It could well be Micron and the card is just defunct, afterall you bought it as faulty, failing that then take the fans that you bought it for and bake that sucker

I thought the only point of baking the card and chip was when there isn't power passing through everything and to me it seems like it just needs the right bios and I have been unable to find the Vbios for a micron anywhere unless one of yous knows of a way to change the bios rom to manually input the micron timmings into the bios instead of the Samsung bios that is onit or if you know where to get a mining bios for it to have it display again

Dont do that, that is the last ditch effort, start with what I said above

Pull the card heatsink off, get a picture of a ram chip close up (clear letters), and then a far pic with all ram chips surrounding the gpu die, clean gpu die and heatsink, apply fresh thermal compound on gpu die.

Get this tool then get a bios file and follow my Easy AMD flash video in my signature below by @F7GOS

Your cards clock is 1303/2000

Here are files, 1 Gaming, Rest are Gaming X, all Samsung FB memory. Just slect the 1303/2000 files

Try the latest file which is from 2017 on bios build date, then go down the list.

Here are unverified files, just pay attention to 1303/2000, those are Samsung FB

Make sure the AMD GPU divers are uninstalled using Display Driver Uninstaller.

If you are using igp, ensure you flash the gpu and not igp.

Once done move video cable from igp to gpu video port, try different ports even if still no go.

@Wil4593t did you flash or what?

The reason I have them verify is due to manufacturers suddenly changing ram, i mean example Hynix AJR/MJR/MFR/AFR/BFR, or Samsung FB/FC/FD etc etc.

The 0/0 in gpu-z besides a brick indicates that to me the bios ram tables are wrong...

Now if the person would just come back and let us know...

@Wil4593t what is going on with your flash?

Hey guys sorry working on car today so I flashed a few Samsung bios onto it and it just keeps seeing micron memory so is there a way to manual set it to tell it to look for samsung

Also so everyone is aware I'm running an Ivybridge E chip so no igpu I'm using a gtx 1070 msi gaming x card as a display to flash bios onto the amd card

Yes, let me give you another means.

Remove all GPU drivers and also remove gpu-z and reinstall it

Okay I'll try that but still no video output at this point and driver still won't install

You will need to do this then

you will need to do a force flash in an administrator privileged command prompt. (Find cmd in start menu right click and open as administrator)

If that is not performed you may receive the stupid 0FL error.

Then follow this command

Enter this command first

Amdvbflash.exe -unlockrom 0

Then enter this command

amdvbflash -f -p 0 XXXX .rom

Note: XXXX is the name of the VBIOS file you downloaded. You can also change the downloaded file name to a simple name.

Otherwise you do it this way:

Create a new text file in your ATIFlash directory, name it FLASH.bat, and place this code into it:

@Echo off
cls

echo Flashing card 0 with BIOS.rom...
echo.
amdvbflash -p 0 -f BIOS.rom
echo.

pause
Assuming the new BIOS you want to flash onto your card is named BIOS.rom, this is the BIOS it will use for flashing.

Save your changes, then run the batch file by double-clicking on it.

Once you've received a success message, reboot your computer for the new BIOS to come into effect. If you can boot into Windows successfully, then that's good! (Note: your screen may flicker for a bit, because you basically have a new card, and Windows is trying to recognize it. If you want to be thorough, go ahead and do a clean re-install of your graphics drivers.)
