Ryse Son of Rome, the former Xbox One exclusive has had its PC release date revealed alongside the minimum and recommended system requirements to run it. According to the Steam store page, the game will have a launch price of £34.99, the digital version of the title will be self published by Crytek while the physical boxed release will be taken care of by Deep Silver.

Crytek has previously noted that the PC version will support 4K resolutions and will include all of the DLC released for the Xbox One version since its launch in November last year.



The minimum system requirements for the game are:

• Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8.
• Intel Dual-Core 2.8 GHz/ AMD Dual-Core 3.2 GHz or better.
• 4GB RAM
• Direct X 11 graphics card with at least 1GB of video memory.
• 26GB available hard drive space.

Reccomended system requirements are a little higher, an AMD 8 core or an Intel quad-core CPU is recommended, your system should have 8GB of RAM while your GPU is recommended to have 4GB of VRAM.

Ryse Son of Rome will release on Steam on the 10th of October. It is currently up for pre purchase on Steam for £34.99 in the UK and $39.99 in the US.

Looks like newer games are gonna start taxing our systems more and require more VRAM

The game was entirely designed for show at E3. They made the perfect show game, and then were told to make a further 8 hours of it.

I can't see buying this game. It was a pretty tech demo, but between the broken systems and repetitive mechanics it isn't worth more than $10 to me.



Interesting that an MS demo for the Xbox One is coming to PC with significantly better everything less than 12 months after its console release though.

Played through it yesterday to find a benchmark scene .. it's not that bad .. basically Call of Duty in Rome .. extremely linear.

Short, 6 hours or so .. but still had fun

But all swords I take it? In the videos I've not even seen any spear throwing or crossbow use.

I was thinking a game about Troy in 3rd person playing as Achilles would be kinda of cool. Not necessarily a made from movie thing, but using combat animations taken from it.

It's kinda hard to make an interesting game based on Roman characters. Their leaders were so one dimensional in combat. In that era I'd rather see a well made Spartan game.

A Spartan and/or gladiator game could have much more variety to it from the planning of rebellion, to stealth missions, to breaking free, to crafty use of traps, fire, commandeered catapults, etc.

These are games that seem to only get made as RTS type though.

Yup, all melee combat. There are some "machine gun nests" that you get to use in some levels.

The 2 armies "fight" but if you don't act, and observe, you'll see it is a false fight until you enter the battle, yes, just like COD...

From what I've read, you do get to use a pila before closing for melee. It seems to me that it did get a proper console port, actually taking the pc users and pc capabilities into account.....and i saw it's priced well at $39.99. I really may have to give it a go.

Roman combat one dimensional? Now I've heard everything. Largest empire known to man was one dimensional. Guess that dimension worked out pretty well for em.
