Ryzen 7 1700X Cooling

Hey guys so I’m nearly finished with building my new rig. It’s not complete yet but I decided to boot it up to test everything. I’m the BIOs I noticed that the CPU is sitting at 56*C. Does the BIOs put any kind of load on the CPU as this seems very high of not. Cooler is a Corsair H70 with a Single GT120 Fan.

Yeah in the BIOS on my Asrock board the CPU temp is always notably higher than the typical idle temperature. I have a feeling it's either reading a different sensor or does some weird offset thing.

How much higher

I noticed we have the same CPU and similar board

I haven’t checked within Windows yet as i have to reinstall

If the idle temperature in windows is about 30 in the BIOS I never see anything under 45-50.

make sure to update the bios. if your using an early version there was a 20c offset applied for cooling purpose. the idea was to make the cpu fan controller think the cpu was hotter than it really was so that it would crank the fans up sooner. newer bioses past 3.40 fix it.

Mines the same. If 35c at desktop, its 45c or higher in uefi. Maybe it's reading a different sensor? I noticed this back on my extreme3 gen3 with sandy bridge

I don't think it's the offset thing. I am on the latest BIOS on a B450 chipset board and the temperature reported is always higher anyway.

BIOS always runs the max voltage as well. No offset is applied.

I ran Cinebench 11.5 just for a test run and it hit 66C

Haven’t ran a real stress test yet

I decided to run prime95 since i already had it available using small FFT and this is what it hit

I also noticed HWMonitor and Speecy both reported different temps from each other

Yeah it's reading a different sensor, it's fine.
