Ryzen 7 1700X Running Hot

Hey guys what program do you use to read Ryzen Temps. I just recent moved and got one of my pcs set back up and i noticed in HWinfo the temps show 70*C at idle. My ambient temps is around 30*C as i'm using my garage as a office. I do have a portable air conditioner running which dropped the temps in here by 10 degrees but even then the temps of the PC seem very high. My GPU is idling about 42*C. Cooler on the 1700X is a Corsair H70 in Push/Pull with Scythe Fans

BIOs shows 85*C and now PC won’t boot

Going to pull the block and repaste. Hopefully that works

Sounds like the pump has failed, or is getting very close to failure.

I’d install the stock cooler for now and look for a replacement.

1700X didn’t include a cooler

No it was brand new from Microcenter

Even reviews stated it didn’t include a cooler

Only the non X variant did

There most be floating 100th of thousand unused Waith coolers around. I got two you can have but the gas cost will make it a better deal to find one on E-bay or similar

. Did you try to re-seat it yet if so I second the near pump failure theory.

What is the pump’s rpm, fan’s rpm, and what is the temp of circulating water?

That is indeed running a bit hot.

As for air cooling suggestions, NH-D15/s user here, and it can hold my mild oc of 3.8ghz on all cores on the 1700x on idle (depending on time of day, as I am at a hot/warm country) sits around 35-42c and on load (VEGAS 16 rendering) 65-70c. Been using this set up since Ryzen Gen 1 came. Never had a problem with it as long as I clean my fans every couple of months.

Also P.s. at that time I didn't have a mount for the AM4 yet for my NH-D15 so I had a week of down time waiting for mail to come from Noctua sending me the free mount (Just needed to show a receipt that you bought an am4 chip and board.)

Im running a 1600X with a Wraith Prism cooler. Its not much of a cooler but at stock settings with boost on my temps looked like yours in this pic at idle. I turned boost off and purchased a Noctua U12S, but when it arrived I put it in on my I7 instead. For me the CPU performs fine without boost and my GPU is heavily underpowered so the temps arent worth it. Even at stock frequency I have my case fans set up very aggressively. I would recommend a Noctua cooler as well, U12A wasnt available to ship here so i bought a U12S and a 3000RPM IPPC fan. The cooler performed better than i expected at 5Ghz my temps are 20C lower than my 212 Evo.

Edit: Ambient is 20-25 degrees

I know but they used to look like yours at your voltage. With boost off im running 0.2V less. My bios is stock besides boost being off.

You sure the pump hasnt lost power?
H70 looks to be an old design, does it require sata/molex as well as the 3 pin fan header to run it?

If its just 3 pin only, make sure its connected to something actually outputting the right signal (some are 3 or 4 pin PWM only - some mobos have AIO pump headers for these devices)

It’s a 3 Pin connector bits it’s plugged into the motherboard 4 pin connector

check in the BIOS if you have any RPM reading at all, try setting it to 100% (and see if there is a 3 pin/4pin/auto option... some boards do)

I would plug the pump to either a dedicated waterpump header on motherboard (if its supported) or plug it directly to 12V just to be safe. Previously I use Seidon 240M and I get some pump noise when plug to motherboard but it disappear when plug directly to 12V PSU via adapter.
