hell, might even take it over 3950x which im so eagerly waiting for...

Under a heavy load, in this case the Cinebench R20 benchmark, we get boosts up and down in the range of 3.95 to 4.05 GHz average clock speed, while power consumption peaks at 160 watts during the run.

What exactly is the difference between 3900 and 3900X? This is a "65W" 3900 consumption in pretty much the same range as "105W" 3900X.

Unless things have changed 65W chips have a max 88W. Probably running it out of "spec" PBO settings by user or by board and saying its stock.

65w rating = 88w limit
105w rating = 142w limit

Enabling PBO allows the chip to use more.

Slower clock speeds, both stock and boost.

3900X clock: Base 3.8GHz, Turbo 4.6GHz
3900 clock: Base 3.1~3.2GHz, Turbo 4.2~4.3GHz

All core boost is somewhere in between Base-Turbo. I believe would be something like 3.7~3.9 for 3900 non X.

That is around the same Power Consumption that I see on my 3700x when I run Cinebench R20 multicore test but my chip runs between 4.125 and 4.275 GHz.

I don't even see that on my 3700X when maxing boards pre-defined PBO settings. I get a peak of 142w with a sustain of 135w in R20 but that's certainly isnt stock.

I have PBO enabled and Asus Performance Enhancer set to Level 2 (PBO tweaks from Asus and The Stilt).
PE level 2 is supposedly the Maximum PBO limits which still adhere to the AMD recommended limits.
