So here we are again. More Samsung 980 Pro Write issues. I've been running stable, with expected Write speeds for a long time. The recent Firmware went on and didn't affect anything. Until now.

Write speeds dropped initially to 2500 and then since, in the region of 2200 and consistently so.

There have been no hardware changes to my system between June and July, where this drop has taken place. Of course, the drive has seen activity in that period but has been left idle for long periods of time, without recovery.

The 980 Pro runs on PCH M2 slot, alongside an SN850 also in a PCH M2 slot, which recently had a Firmware update to correct a Write issue (and which solved it). The SN850 Firmware update took place on July 11th, which sits inbetween the last good 980 Pro Write speed test and first bad one.

Has anyone else seen their 980 Pro performance bin out recently? Also coinciding with an SN850 Firmware update in the same system on PCH slots?

Hi,
Seems more straight forward to return the 980 and get another sn850.

At least they're nice enough to advertise in the app that shows their devices underperforming.

One question, are you using the drive as an OS drive? or is it too much filled? Because it looks like the pSLC Cache (Samsung calls it "Turbo Write") might not have enough free space, only if applies for the questions i've asked.
Have you tried trimming the drive or even doing a Secure Erase?

970 Pro a better buy than the 980 pro in my opinion, its a MLC so speeds will be consistent.
