Could be. I'm seeing articles saying "Probably improves performance during extended randomread segments", "Theoretically improving performance during extended high-thermal times", "possibly improved game loading times for sequential read requests", etc, but haven't found anyone specifically running a full-on gaming-series test both with and without the utility installed.

and last year, even tom's says the thermal management would be beneficial. Not found an update from them yet....

Damn, thats nice a 4tb for a good price, and its PCIe as a bonus.

It is a 3rd of the price of 2tb.

This isnt a Gen 4 drive, it hits the quoted speeds using 8 lanes on gen 3, so 3x8. So I would be using this at about 55% of its max sequential burst speed, and about 80% for sequential writes. But still great for 4TB of TLC nand I think. It has a very high idle power draw at 8.5w, little more than double over a typical 5400rpm idle draw. Also looks like its using smaller drives inside configured as raid0 using an internal marvell controller.
