I have 2 Samsung C24FG70FQU and a RX 580 4gb oced to RX 590 speed

Old games with my i5 8400 runs fine, latest game i got (humble bundle) was grid 2 from 2013, great game and performance but if i want to go for a gtx 1660 ti (won't spend the money on a RTX 2060 that to much atm), would i be able to use freesync?

Is the diffrence really that high ?

But you would pay 280$ for a card that's about 10% faster ? An odd choice.

The difference would be bigger if i oc the gtx 1660 ti also if i sell my rx 580 i can get half the price of a gtx 1660 ti for it (low tier gtx 1660 ti).

The question wasn't if i would pay $280 for a card that's about 10% faster ?

It was if i could get freesync to work with a Samsung C24FG70FQU + gtx 1660 ti

As i see it, it's more than 10%

i have the low tier Gigabyte OC 6G ... (GV-N166TOC-6GD) ... compared to GTX 980, i think it is faster... and cheaper... i paid 650CAN for the zotac gtx980 AMP! extreme... and was never satified with it, or two of them in SLI.
it was 380CAN for the GTX1660ti.

i was able to Overclock the gtx1660ti to 1640g and 1750 (1875 with green flashes, so unstable)... in afterburner +140G, +1000M)

yes. if your monitor has freesync, the gtx1660ti can use it (setup is the same as if you have a gsync monitor...) but in the case of a gsync monitor it is enabled automatically... so the setup for a fresync monitor is the same as disabling the gsync monitor (just turn it on) ... the nvidia controlp ppanel does not really hidden the gsync item.

i have a ex3270u and gtx1660ti, freesync is amazing on gtaV... only problem is that is is a bit of a pain making sure that the frame rate does not go below 40Fps... and if if goes above about 70 screen starts to tear/ studder. and if you set vsync on... you need watch that the framerate does not go below 30, or you have to wait a minute for it to pop back

i do not know about the rx580... and only graphics card that i used later are gtx980's in SLI etc (just problems)... the interesting thing... it I have been as really happy with gigabyte gtx1660ti oc (280 CAN)... and of course with the ew3270u... i finally was able you get GTV running at 40 to 60+ fps on 4K, with just overclocking it (+140g, +1000m ) and using a i3-8350k at Stock with 2800ddr4 14x3,34,1t...
just had to set everything to veryhigh, but grass Q ULTRA (finally) and postfx to ultra.
(i also have a 2 gsync monitors (xb280hk, xb270hu)...

the only BIG problem (IMO) is that you CAN NOT install a AIO to cool the Card. (the reason is that GDDR6 is sensitive to the circuit board trace "roughness!!!" and warping... (reflection problems)... thus OC quality.

I don't change cooler on my gpu, i try to run the fans at lowest possible speed to keep it quiet (not always the same as the lowest rpm i can run the fans at)

i would check the samsung forums, I have a DELL freesync monitor that I know won't work with my GTX 1660ti*

*I can manually set the refresh rate in Nvidia control panel to the monitor maximum in resolution settings but according to Nvidia the monitor should have a G-Sync logo on it in Control Panel along with a check box for "enable G-Sync" that allows it to work with Free Sync.

You need a display port to get free-sync/G-syncish working.
Once plugged in reboot and you'll have the option in Nvidia control panel.

His monitor does have a display port so I would figure it would work but you never know. My monitor is HDMI and VGA only so I knew it would not work not that Nvidia offered the support when I purchased the monitor.

i would sell the 580 and get the 1660 ti and OC it. nvidia and intel are king at 1080p resolution.

and yes gsync will work on that samsung freesync monitor

There is display port

I ask because my monitor wasnt on the first list

https://www.techspot.com/article/1779-freesync-and-nvidia-geforce/
My monitor isn't on the list either but it works. There's a test you can do to see if it syncs or you continue to get screen tears...
I kinda remember a list from users somewhere... I'll look for it and the screen test tool app.

Anyways here's that G-Sync Test
https://www.nvidia.com/coolstuff/demos#!/g-sync

If G-Sync works you get a nice smooth bar across the screen.
I think that's the best test.
