Hello.
I have a good deal on this PCIe 3.0 nvme drive in used with 100% health.
My rig is limited to PCIe 2.0 standards and as per the drive specified it can do 3000mb/s easily.
I am unknown to nvme world as i have not tried interface above Sata/SAS.
I know there are lanes upto which these drives perform example x2 and x4. Which most modern drives do 32gb/s.
Should i be buying this PCIe 3.0 card? Or relavantly go for just a normal 2tb Samsung 860 Pro ?
Or just sale off evga sr-2 with 2x 5690 ? And upgrade more out of less
OR
Wait until already announced evga sr-3 motherboard ?

I'd go for a full upgrade now.
Basically anything x99-based and above in a single-socket variant beats dual-socket SR2 with a pair of Westmere CPUs in both single-threaded and multi-threaded applications.
The only reason SR2 stuck around for so long and cost so much is the "WOW factor".
I've "downgraded" my Rampage II Gene a long time ago, and I don't regret it a single bit. Most people only think about CPU/RAM/GPU performance, but I/O actually plays a big role in usability and comfort of use. Even with a Skylake i3 it was a huge leap forward for me. Old-ass XP941 (limited to PCIe 2.0) gave me crazy-fast boot time, proper SATA III controller opened up a full potential of my Sandisk X400 storage drive etc. etc. etc.

yes but to the OP question regarding pcie 2.0 speeds and this drive, we look at: (quote from arestavo)

"
PCIE 2.0 X4 has 2000 MB/s of bandwidth available, but version 2.0 has more overhead than 3.0 - so you won't see the full 2000 MB/s (just guessing, but 1500 MB/s sounds about right).

The difference in game load times and Windows load times from a standard, good quality, SATA III SSD to a high performance PCIE NVME SSD? ZERO, ZIP, ZILCH. You get faster file transfer speeds, and if you run a database server - very fast database access at high queue depths."
