Hello Guys,

Got this current gpu at the moment:

Sapphire 7970 OC+Boost

http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1157&pid=1481&psn=&lid=1&leg=0

Was wondering if i add another card just like that(xfire), might encounter the nightmare called "Microstutter"?:pimp:

I'd like to play games at the rate of 120mhz(no 3d-just 2d)
My current Monitor (Sammy 950D) will be the main monitor, the other 2 will be just as an extended desktop.

Not planning to Oc the card at all ultill the MS is being mitigated.

Finally, my mobo is an asrock z77 fatality pro. I Believe that if i run xfire on this mobo, i will be having a pcie lane of 8x-8x, which might not slow down the game speed.

Thanks for your help.

Microstutter is generally able to be completely eliminated by either using Radeon Pro or enabling the framerate limiting function of MSI Afterburner (set the framerate limit to either your monitor's refreshrate or your average framerate).

That's been my experience anyways. And not every game suffers from microstutter.

No problems, so you are saying that i should be getting a 2nd 7970 and try it out?:banghead:

The radeon Pro and the MSI Afterburne-

Do i have to use both or just one of them?

Thanks.

I dont know if i can do that

The shop i buy this item, will charge me a re-stocking fee of 20%.

Is there other known issue in regards of xfire using the 7970 series?

I run Crossfire 7870's if that helps.
I have no micro stutter or any other issues.

I did find the latest CCC13.2 beta 5 to be a bit unstable but solid performance otherwise.

Glad to hear that mate.

Now, i have seen that there is a new version of the Sapphire 7970 OC+Boost

Model #: SA-7970-3GD5-OC-V2

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=21322

I have got a Sapphire 7970 oc+boost. The v2 version looks identical to me in every spec.

Is there any difference that someone can notice?

I'm running 7970 crossfire and am pleased with it! I have reference cards running at x8/x8, which is fine for crossfire, so your cards should be nice :)

If you're gaming at 120Hz, it should be really puuurdy :toast:
