Hi,

Unfortunately it's pretty often...
VGA power delivery circuitry is a big source for electromagnetic noise.

If it's possible, position your VGA and Audigy as far from each other as possible. (ie, Audigy to left-most PCI slot, and VGA to right-most PCIex slot).

There are many other factors here (PSU quality, ground connection quality, mobo quality, audio cable quality, VGA circuitry quality).
But the bottom line is... VGA does interfere with analog audio inside the case. Unless you can get audio out by digital means (eg. spdif), it may not be easy to fix the problem.

Also, try your integrated audio... To your surprise, you may find that it's giving you better sound quality.

Cheers,

I have a HD 4850 on my main rig. When I got the card, it was making the static, and it was bearable, but I knew I could fix it. Long story short, in order to cut the static, I cut out a piece of cardboard, put a piece of aluminum foil on top, then put a wire from the aluminum foil to the PCI plate of the video card. This successfully ground the card so static does not "leak" between the two. The cardboard / foil contraption goes between the video card and the sound card FYI.

Here is what I made (picture is not real FYI, but looks similar to what I made!):

Since then I use metal mosquito netting for screen doors, which works just fine, but this is a good "ghetto" fix for now!

I wonder if this issue is related to certain HD4xxx series cards.
I have never had a static noise issue and my HDMI audio is active.

I also have and Audigy zs but it's in the very last PCI slot.

My mother is a Asus P5QE, and the PCI Express have up or down the pci slot for my sound card for example.

PCI Slot
PCI Express

I can't put in other slot the sound card, so, the static always be a problem in the audigy.
I hope you understandme (by my english)

PD: The f*** static not dissapear disablin' the HDMI audio. It was a illusion :(
