Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 8GB - Previously a mining card, stock BIOS required

Hello

I've recently obtained a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 8GB GPU in great condition however it was mined with for a few months. The previous owner was very transparent with me and let me know that a custom BIOS was flashed to the GPU, but I'm not sure how to identify which side of the BIOS switch has the custom BIOS loaded. When using the GPU with the switch to the left (closest to the display inputs) the card seems to be operating just fine with regards to temps after an initial purple screen which was fixed by reinserting the card. Running with the switch to the right (closest to the fans) result in the PC taking notably longer to boot, specifically between the POST screen and the Welcome screen (usually where devices are detected with that rolling dotted circle on a black screen).

Ideally I would like to load the default BIOS on both ends of the BIOS switch and would appreciate any help in doing so, if it's even necessary. Now, I've seen a few threads on the forum over here but have also seen that the specific model of the GPU is required, hence my own thread.

Any help would be really appreciated with finding the BIOS for the stock "quiet" (left) and "performance" (right) modes of the BIOS, along with links to using a flashing utility or a guide. Thanks in advance!

There are times it is difficult to find a "quiet bios" i will try though

The position where it says 1411/2000 in both the GPU/Ram clock and Default GPU/Ram Clock is the ok bios, the position where it says 1340 default and 1411 is incorrect

Oddly enough though, the 1411/2000 on both clocks is the bios that results in the system hanging for a bit after post. I'll try it out again as soon as I'm at my PC and will update here.

Stop what you are doing right now, disregard the link i provided, your ram is micron, the one i just provided is for samsung/hynix

Here is the 1411/2000 Official bios from Sapphire. When you flash this file make sure the bios switch is in the position where it says Default GPU Clock and GPU Clock are both at 1411 in gpu-z.

Just posting back to say all was successful with flashing the BIOS.

It seems that the card already had the stock/performance BIOS on the switch-right side, but because it was hanging on startup I decided to flash the BIOS ROM linked above anyway and the card no longer hangs on startup when on that BIOS. The clocks are now displaying correctly as well.

The reason why you were having the Hang-Ups is because of the bios files were modified on that card that's the reason why I got you the stock ones

I also acquired a second-hand Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 last weekend. Although I knew my colleagues used them for mining, I didn't know about the custom BIOS used to optimise its mining efficiency. I was advised to flash it back to regular BIOS.

So following the instructions here, I overwrote the performance BIOS (right side) with the referenced copy Sapphire.RX580.8192.171019.rom. Now the computer cannot start up.

Had to switch BIOS mode to quiet (left side) for it light up the monitors and boot windows. Perhaps I should be using the latest Sapphire.RX580.8192.180719_1.rom version instead, but, how can I use the ATI flash program to overwrite the BIOS on the right side? Since now I can only operate off the left side quiet BIOS.....

Oh, so it is safe for the card's BIOS switch to be flipped after system boot up, so the flasher can overwrite the selected BIOS slot.

That did the trick and my performance mode BIOS is workable with Sapphire.RX580.8192.180719_1.rom.

Before you ever flash a bios make sure to wait for instructions so the cards do not brick

I have this exact card with the same part and SKU number. I would also like to get the stock VBIOS for both sides.
I note though when I pull the files from this card it seems to indicate it has Hynix/Samsung.
Would the same card with same P/N have 2 different types of ram? My card has the exact same details on the stickers as the OP.

Any graphics card out there can have any kind of memory whether it is Samsung hynix micron elpida

It is why I sometimes have people remove the heatsink to verify physically what ram they have if the card is bricked. Or if it shows 0 on the actual clock speed where as default is present

Give me time to look, while youre at it get a gpu-z screenshot please

Open gpu- z and click the arrow next to the uefi check box and attempt to upload the bios through the program to the vga bioscollection/database, you should get prompted as to what bios you have with a link, copy and paste link here.

Need to verify dome things

Do it for both bios positions please
