I had a choise of the 2 you listed but because i cant stand waiting for things as i am useless at keeping hold of money i decided to get the sapphire one as it was next day delivery and i am more than happy with it, all in all i would be happy to choose any of the cards listed.

I have hit 1480/2250 with the 1342mhz core version of the sapphire my trigger brother has the xfx and only hit 1435, but it runs cooler.

A GTX 1060 6 gb performs better overall then any rx 480,look if u can find it similar price and get one

See that depends heavily on what games he is playing and resolution not to mention clockspeed. The newer 480's are already starting to scale up better than the 1060's and that isn't going to change. We just had a very long thread on that and general consensus was 480.

That is the card I picked up. Random card off of the shelf no binning needed. If you go kick through hwbot.org the RX480 is currently beating the 1060 on air consistently (GPU scores). This isn't a mistake it is happening for a reason. You will see the RX480 gain more ground over the 1060 as time goes on.

I have freesync monitor. And i got the MSI RX 480 8gb Gaming edition. It's very powerful for 1080 gaming. Might be for 2k even (never tested it).
Looking at the reviews i choose the MSI version. I think i have made the right decision. That Asus Rog Strix still looks amazing! And the clocks for the Sapphire edition are the biggest ...even tho i don't think you will get more than 2 fps out of any game . However you have to look at the noise levels.
So unless you have a freesync monitor, gtx 1070 would be the perfect decision for you. In my country the 1070 is much more expensive than the RX 480
PS: the quality build for the msi card is superb! 0% coil noise. the plastic is very hard and everything is solid. it looks and feels like very much premium build

The MSI doesn't have the best vrm section, but it's definitely fine for any normal use.
