As the expected November 15th release date for AMD's Radeon RX 590 inches closer, more leaks of AIB cards have started trickling in. Sapphire's Radeon RX 590 NITRO+ is just the latest to appear. Much like the ASUS ROG STRIX version leaked earlier, Sapphire design is using a hefty cooler for what amounts to a mid-range graphics card. The design looks to be the exact same as their RX 580 NITRO+ with just a fresh coat of paint to spruce things up. They are using the same shroud, dual fans, large aluminum heatsink, and full cover backplate on both graphics cards. That said, the change to a bright blue shroud gives the RX 590 NITRO+ a unique appearance that should at the very least help it stand out against its more mundane black and white designs of the competition.

In regards to actual specifications, the RX 590 features the same 2304 Stream processors, 144 TMUs (texture mapping units), and 32 ROPS (render output units) as the RX 580. This is because the Polaris 30 design used in the RX 590 is just a die shrink of Polaris 20 used in the RX 580. Obviously with a die shrink typically comes improved performance, usually via higher clock speeds. Currently, the final clock speeds for Sapphire's Radeon RX 590 NITRO+ are not known. However, if the rumored reference boost clock of 1545 MHz is correct, an overclock pushing that a step further is likely. Meaning performance should be improved compared to what we have seen in various leaks thus far.

If I get one of those, first thing I'd do is paint it one color, maybe 2, black and red.

I believe almost all AIB are re-using the exist PCB's and cooler and yes this is just using the existing Special Edition that offer up to 1430 MHz Boost Clock and 2100 MHz Memory Clock 8.4 that provides 8.4 GHz effective. That little memory bump is significant, as that even little memory improvement has a great effect on performance.

I would hope to see the RX 590 get equipped premium GDDR5 so all can run at minimum 2100 MHz Memory. If this 12nm Polaris 30 can provides clock more approaching 1550Mhz Boost, and perhaps even a more refine boost algorithm there can be perhaps a little more than muted commotion of what this might present.

I wonder what Polaris would do if it went 7nm, this would be interesting. Maybe a return to high performance single slot card.

That would be true if the definition of high end wouldn't shift every gen. And it still does. I don't see Polaris on 7nm surpassing a 1080 and that is old news.

It would be great, but unfortunately I expect they'll be priced around twice that.
I have a 290X that's in need of replacing. This looks like it should tide me over 'till custom cooling versions of Navi are released later next year.

At least make the RX 590 different like in their "Crimson Fire" shroud/fan appearance without upping the price.

A while your at it you might as well wish for a GTX 1060 3Gb makes it down to $135, or a GTX 1060 6Gb for $170... dreamer! At least you could get several nice RX 570 4Gb for $140 just the other day, so at least one side gets it.

Amd need to sell these cards super cheap while nvidia is up in the $400 + range these at $150-$200 would sell like hot cakes
and I am surprised they don't bundle these with a cpu and do a cheap bundle offer

bundle offer
I'd rather see say a "Crimson Fire" version for $270, but then a $25 off coupon on say the Acer XG270HU FreeSync 144Hz WQHD 2K 1440p and a nice new Game download. Works out to around $565.

I love these cards from sapphire.wish they made one of those nitro cards in white. I like the red too but white and black is timeless.regarding the price dream on for 200 usd. If you can get this card for 240-250 consider yourself very lucky.personally if you ask me AMD should have prepared this card on 7nm process not 12.maybe perhaps they could have gotten 30% improvement and completely capture the market in its segment for holiday season and beyond...

This market is so rotten, it seems that both Nvidia and AMD are on strike and only complying with minimum services.

I think you should learn more about cards before stating this. As for the market, LOL.

Fire Strike Extreme 7350
Looking back at the 2016 release of the GTX 1070 Found Edition, it was like 7746 for an overall score.

Being 5% off a 1070 FE is good, while then saying it's like >20% above a 580 8Gb... from what I find in some sites about 6000-6050 for Fire Strike Extreme overall scores. Not beholden to any of these scores (or my math), but if in the ballpark this would be better than I'd considered.
