I've been attempting to fix an RX 570 that I bought used a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, it has been giving me a code 43 error in device manager, and I haven't permanently fixed it. Using DDU and installing a fresh version of Windows did nothing. After that, I suspected it had something to do with the GPU itself. I found this program called atikmdag-patcher, and it has been able to fix the code 43 error temporarily. I tried flashing this BIOS (VGA Bios Collection) for Hynix memory (verified the brand of memory when I took the GPU apart), but the code 43 error still appears. I don't really know what else to do other than continue to use this program.

The part number for the GPU is 299-2E366-001SA.

Hello
Ok, let's take 1 step at a time.
You flashed it recently with a correct BIOS?
And after that you applied atikmdag ?

I used atikmdag first and found that it worked until I uninstalled or updated the drivers. I flashed the BIOS after to see if that would permanently fix it. To be safe, I did use DDU in safe mode to remove the graphics drivers before flashing the BIOS.

OK. So now you have a correct BIOS in your card ? I presume yes, so you can do the procedure one more time.
1st - boot in safe mode
2nd - use DDU to clean system from old drivers
3rd- reboot normally
4th - reinstall drivers
5th - use atikmdag
6th- restart computer and check again status of card in device manager

The error went away, but if I reinstall or update the graphics driver the error comes back.

I also noticed how this BIOS I used (and the previous BIOS when I got the card) had the part number ending in S4U. Does it matter that the part number on the sticker ends in SA?

Well, the good news is that you have a fully functional card.
Yes when you change driver error 43 could appear but is not 100%.
The ideea is : system is working perfect? Then do not alter anything.
About the BIOS code - no it doesn't matter what code you have.
Have a nice day!
