It appears that we're in the Radeon RX 7900-series teaser season, as yet another upcoming card has been teased on social media, this time by Sapphire. The company didn't share any details about the card, beyond the fact that's its an RX 7900 based card of some kind. The company shared a short video of the fans spinning on the card, from an angle that gives away as few details as possible. Beyond being able to tell that the card has triple-fan cooling solution and a silver coloured shroud, the only thing visible appears to be two RGB LED strips that runs along the length of the card.

It's not negativity. It's sarcasm. One could just write "who gives a F about teasers", but why not do it with a bit of a laugh, eh? ;)

I don't mind going from my Nitro+ RX 6900XT to a Nitro+ RX 7900 XTX, lookin' forward to snagging it when I get back in February.

Looks like another video card... after a while they are all starting to look the same :(

EVGA needs to make a comeback on the AMD side and show all of these guys how to make a nice card :)

Agreed. EVGA's 20-series looked nice. I'll keep my 2070 Black just in case, even though I have a 6750 XT now.

As for the 6750 XT, I wasn't sure if buying a reference model was gonna be a good idea, but after opening the box, I'm not sure if I could buy an AIB card ever again. :D

Ultimately, it just boils down to the price. Sure it looks great but cost 200 - 300 bucks more than the reference model, I think that itself will kill people's interest. And I suspect it will trend this way because looking at the current RDNA2 release, AIB cards cost quite a lot more than the reference models.

Sapphire has nice cards. I always dig the toxic version. I wonder if they will release that one. I'm not saying I will pull get one since I'm rocking my devil 6900xt but if not devil than toxic card it would have been.

I will never ever again buy a Sapphire product. Probably the worst experience I ever had with an RMA process. No thanks! Luckily there are more companies out there making graphics cards. Not even the design of their newest product is compelling to me. I personally really like the 7900 XT reference design.

Ever since they ditched those horrible blowers, AMD reference design has been a thing of beauty.

Yeah, I gotta agree with this, I recall looking at my HD7970 and R9 290X when I had them and being rather.....um, disappointed with the reference design (though I'm pretty sure those cards were from PowerColor and/or Sapphire). I think the HD 3870 X2 I had was also a refence card stuck with an AIB sticker.....kinda fuzzy now.

Pretty happy with AMD newer reference cards since AMD stopped producing those godawful looking (yes, I'm a tad shallow) reference blower type shroud after the RX 5000 series. The RX 6800 series, and now the RX 7000 series, have improved so much with aesthetics and cooling (presumably) that I actually don't mind getting an RX 7900 XTX with reference cooler. Will see what I can rustle up when I get back.

Aesthetics, definitely. Cooling... umm... my 6750 XT (that has the 6800 non-XT cooler by the looks of it) runs rather hot. 80+ °C junction and 100-105 °C hotspot. It works, it's within spec, but I wouldn't call it cool.

Ah, that's why I've always resorted to a custom, and aggressive I might add, fan curve/profile via Adrenalin CP. I actually hate that default 'Zero' fan at default and would adjust it so that my GPU (junction) temp is in the mid 70's, and Hotspot sits at high 80's. Yes, I can hear the fans rev up whenever I start a game, but I'm fine with the sound as it's not too loud, besides my case is below my desk with my soundbar blasting in front of me.

I'm a silence freak, so I'd rather just keep the default fan curve (and no overclock of course), and accept that high temps are within spec with these GPUs. :ohwell:

Ref cards then were designed for you to put a WB or 3rd party cooler on them. It was a Sad day when Arctic Cooling got out of the vga cooling business (Og creators of the VGA Silencer)

It's really hard to get by China these days. Most tech companies have at least some sort of production facility located there. In the end the decision on what to buy should - to some degree - not be limited by where it is produced but on quality and price. While price always plays a role you have to pay a certain price to get quality. For this reason I am quite happy that there are sites out there - like TPU - that do the comparisons for all of us. In the best case scenario there is no need to RMA a product at all but if it happens I - and everybody else should - will draw conclusions on what to buy in the future.

Long ago I damaged a x1950 Pro Sapphire (screw fell on it) and Had to RMA it, it was a 2 week turn around time.

I have this 290 VaporX and its been a solid card.

Ive heard of woes with asus and gigabyte.

It's just a personal experience but it remained in the subconsciousness since then. Sapphire might be the best GPU vendor now, I just won't buy something of them again. Once bitten, twice shy.

It will be interesting to see whether Sapphire is (again) the ODM of the 7000 series of cards, we will find out in a couple of weeks.
