    Hi guys!
I have a question for you.
I play games on a 1440p Monitor (Dell U2515H) and my current video card is a Sapphire Tri-X R9 290 OC.
I need to build a new PC for my parents.
I can give my "old" R9 to them and buy a MSI GTX 1060 GAMING X 6GB for me.
Does it make sense? Which is better?
Or otherwise i can buy directly a 1070 for me for more money.
What do you think is the better way?
    Thanks in advance!

What processor are you running? I recommend holding out. the improvement is not really worth it, imo. I've been watching to see if it's time to replace mine, and it's just a monster card that held up solidly to time. But, if you just have to have new card, and the money is burning thru your pocket.....

    I'd recommend buying a GTX1070, especially for 1440p gaming.

    seconded ... a 1060 is a 1080p sweetspot, a 1070 is a 1440p bare requirement (though it will do just fine )

    in a comparison a 290 is a 980 (i owned both) equivalent, a 1070 is a 980Ti equivalent and 8gb is neat to have

Thanks to all for the fast replies!
    I am running an i5 4570.
I am more oriented for a 1070, but will my cpu cause a bottleneck?

No only in Low Resolution gaming witch you don't do..... :)

But yes go for the 1070, 1060 is the same as R9 290X performance wise.

    Hi.
It makes absolutely no sense. You'll have negligible improvement with the GTX 1060. In other words, it would be a total waste of money, unless your current R9 290 is defective. Some people will disagree, because for them even 2% improvement is worth the extra €€€ or €€€€.

GTX 1070 is certainly more powerful, but R9 290 isn't a weak card either. Both are perfectly capable for current 1440p gaming. Personally, I would wait for the RX 490 or GTX 1170 and than replace the R9 290 somewhere in Q3 2017.
