The Pro doesn't have as many pixel pipelines or shaders as the XT, so even if you did overclock to XT speeds, the XT will be faster.

XT all the way, imo.

Yep go XT, and maybe get a better cooler for it as I hear the OE coolers on them are noisy as hell. The Pro is a good bang for the buck card, but that sapphire XT is a great price (cheaper than what I paid for my Powercolor Pro 6 months ago!), go for it!

The X1950XT has more pipelines, 48 compared with 36 on the X1950GT/Pro

Either get the x1950XT card or a cheap X1950GT.

So far majority goes to the xt!

Oh, and also, if I were to get an aftermarket gpu cooler, what would you recommend

I'm all for the XT. Faster clocks, more pipes,, and even though the alternitave has 512MB memory, 256MB is just fine for DX9. Espically with those speeds.

yea the xt is great, i've had mine for 2-3 months now, its great and i can play every game i've tried so far on highest settings with highest AA and AF levels with no problem.

the stock cooler isnt all that loud until its at 100%, i have mine set to 50% for any temp under 70C and 100% at 70C+, as soon as it hits 70C it goes 100% and drops back below 70 to the 50% mark and i usually only hear it when things get crazy on screen, or running the ati tool window. the biggest thing with the stock one i hear is the crappy job done on the heatsink surface and it should be lapped. normally at idle i see 49-50c even when its like 80-90F ambient, going to lap and put AS5 tomorrow and see how it goes.

so yea, get the xt and the thermalright hr-03 would be best.

Benchmark Scores Fast. I don't need epeen.
XT is better, but in some situations the extra frame buffer on the Pro will have more of a use. Personally I would get the cheapest Pro \ GT you can find, clock the snot out of it and sit with that until a decent midrange DX10 card comes out.

The Sapphire x1950xt 256mb is better card ;)

But like what Ketxxx said, get a cheap X1950Pro or GT and overclock! I got an X1950GT and overclocked it with ease to the same speed as a Pro version....so I basically got a Pro but it cost less (I saved about £20)

EDIT: lol Ive only just realised that Ive quoted myself :)

I would say go with the XT to, had mine for a while now and its never let me down in any game I have tried on full settings (some of the games, BF2, 2142, CS:Source, Half Life 2: Lost Coast).

Make sure you know the system requirements for this card.

Yes XT all the way.
As long as you know the system requirments for these cards!

PSU +12V/30a rail

I have a AGP pro which does the job nicely now.
Before with the P4 3Ghz HT CPU it wasn't all that great
Now I've completely gone to the darkside with ATi x1950pro/AMD64 X2 4800+, the card works the way it should.

That is a very good point, because my e6300 has to be overclocked up to 3.2ghz to remove the bottleneck it causes for my XT. 3.2ghz and the XT is the sweet spot.
