    Hey everyone,

I recently purchased a Sapphire X800GTO², obviously with the idea of unlocking the additional pipes and slightly overclocking the core and memory. Reading up on the relevant articles and forums on this site however, it has come to my attention that there may be 2 completely different versions of this card in circulation. The "good" one, dual dvi, no TVout, 1.6ns samsungs, great overclockers. And the "bad", dvi/analog, TVout, 2.0ns samsungs, mediocre overclockers at best.

Now I'm one of the sad few who's stuck with the second sort of card, and my question is this really: Is it worth even bothering with trying to overclock anymore, or should I just unlock the pipes and be happy with that? I have a Zalman 700 cooler standing by to be mounted, and a very well ventilated case in which to mount it.

PS: One final question from an unknowing layman: how do I know what kind of memory my video card is sporting? Reading the core is easy enough, but does the memory say "1.6" or "2.0" anywhere?

The memory usually has markings and the last two numbers usually indicate the speed i.e 16 at the end is 1.6ns
If the markings are clear you can type the code into google or check on the manufacturers website and that should show the specs.
I think there are 3 versions of the GTO2. 1 has dvi and analog with r480core and 1.6ns on a red pcb with 6 pin power, 1 has dual dvi r480 and 1.6ns on red pcb with 6 pin power and the final is r430 2.0ns with dvi and analog on a blue pcb with no extra power.
The best OC are the two based on r480 with 1.6ns RAM and extra power connector. Your card will unlock to 16pp and will probably OC a bit but not that much i.e. 440/450mhz on the core and 510/520mhz on the memory.

yeah, try flashing the BIOS and just be glad. Ironically the X850XT, which you would theoretically be modding to, is actually a bit cheaper then the GTO2 last time I checked  . No wait, put the zalman cooler on first. If you're going to mod the thing at all, make sure you have enough cooling to support it lol.
