Once again science fiction becomes science fact and this is only the beginning.

Neuralink is also supposed to have a big announcement in a couple months. I am still hesitant to believe this actually works though in full... but eh would be cool if this article is true. but if the babes at work figure out i am thinking about all them all the time at work... my life = gg so maybe this tech needs to stop right now? before 80% of all males get fired from work :D

@lynx29 Indeed, the privacy implications are massive. Imagine a scenario where the tech is perfected so that minds can be read at will, like a hard disc. A suspect is brought in and will be politely asked if he will submit to a head scan for the information wanted. Of course, he can't say no and they'll then be able to get passwords, intimate information they're not authorised to have, everything. Of course, privacy safeguards in law will mean next to nothing. It would be even worse when powerful gangsters like the mafia got the tech and so the list goes on.

yep, and imagine how many divorces will occur overnight once the wife realizes you actually were looking at the girl and had a quick thought, however fleeting, that moment in time still existed. LOL oh boy.

luckily for the human species the minerals needed for lithium batteries will run out probably in 800 years or so, so eventually we will all go back to medieval days, as solar and wind also require lithium to work.

Wow that's a real tabloid headline right there. Worthy of a red band across the top.

And by sharing "thoughts", what you actually mean is it looks for two specific brain signals dependings on the very basic stimulant provided by two screens running specific signals.

Oh, and it's not been reviewed yet.

EDIT: The same thing could have been achieved by having two people shout at one guy with a controller with the same result.

It's the mind reading bit that's important though. Obviously the task is simple for testing purposes.

It's not mind reading though. You can put a tuxedo on a goat but it's still a goat. It's a machine that looks for a 1 or a 0 in a very specific part of the brain. It cannot pluck thoughts from your head, it cannot read words or images. It simply looks at a signal generated by a 15hz or a 17hz screen.

It's like calling ACC a form of autopilot.
