I don't get it.

Just more scientist wanting to be "Hip" i guess or some new form to get a grant Art/Music/Science. You would think with all the science equipment they wouldn't have to resort to a turntable of all things. Even DJs have moved on from that. Who is collecting these samples especially 3. Who or how is the tone decided on. You can place the sample on different locations on the turntable disc and have it sound different. Even different growth stages would be different.
