So basically save up $20 for a Noctua when the all black version comes out. Temp results were pretty bad for being almost 2019

This cooler is designed for performance per decibel.

Does the Noctua beat it in that metric? Does it merely tie it? Does it offer $20 more performance-per-decibel performance?

What if you used beQuiet or Noctua fans at same speeds with this tower. Might be inaudible at max.

Noctua at 50% PWM spins at around 866rpm (scythe max rpm 810 at 100%)
Noctua at 866rpm is 36db while scythe at 810rpm is 38 db
Even beQuiet at 1022rpm is 37db. However, 1000 rpm might be too much for this tower. Something tells me, this tower is meant to be cooled at 800rpm~ max.

more silent than dark rock pro 4
cheaper,smaller and lighter than than dark rock pro 4

what else can one want from air cooler?

btw - crazyeyesreaper have you considered some sort of temps per dBa comparisons, because this is what really counts in same class air coolers?

I don't "get" why Scythe has so many options .... The Fuma is $45 and is way better .. outperforming the Cryorig by 3C or tying the 3 x 120mm Swifetch at 78C

Ninja isn't bad but I would rather have the MSI core Frozr or Mugen 5 Rev.B

Both are $10-15 cheaper, have more clearance, and offer near identical thermal results. Ninja is a little quieter but none of the 3 are killers sound wise

I run my Ninja 2 passive(no fans) it keeps an 3770k@3.3Ghz <70ºC. I think this is what the Ninja series is all about, passive not active cooling in ATX cases.

Most coolers reviews (and cases too) are useless for whom care about noise/perf ratio. I miss SPCR (silentpcreviews.com) reviews.

It is very difficult by that review to figure whether the cooler is so bad as the reviewer satates. I have a feeling it is terrific on the only thing that matters: noise/perf/price.

same. they could benefit a little from SKU simplication. THAT SAID, i really love my Scythe Ninja 4. per tweaktown, it's 0.25C warmer than an NH-D15 ...if your memory will fit under it. and it's easy to install. price ranges from $33.xx to $40. i needed a $5 AM4 adapter.

I modded my Ninja Plus Rev. B from skt 478 day's < on the ole 3.4 EE Gallatin day's > and even with the SAME old 2008 Coolermaster no gimmick fan <molex at that > and even if the fan die's the cpu could care less ! Even with trying other 38mm thic fan's it just wasn't worth the extra hassle of twisties ect to mount them for mostly more noise.
But it still keep's the same old 2600K 4.8-5.2 under 70c easily and is sooo dam quiet. I'm sure the HAF 932 is a Huge factor in the cooler temp's, and I'm baffeled by a lot of result's I read on Ninja review's.
Even when I was going thru the setting up the Samsung Wonder Ram in 2012 for this current setup, Dave kindly reminded me to move the fan from <semi passive>just angled to cool around the edge's of the socket back onto the cooler it's self to eliminate other issue's when I was trying to get past the 5Ghz.
Now if only I could get ahold of the old Copper Ninja :cool:

this Scythe Ninja 5 is insane value
it had a HUGE heatsink, 2x fans and cost less than half of the Noctua NH-D15 / Dark Rock Pro 4 in my country
i bought it instantly in a heart beat without a doubt
at this price point i could have added 4x more high rpm kaze flex rgb fans to replace the slow 800rpm fan and put the extras wherever as intake/exhaust and still have some spare dollar for a decent thermal paste.

But that's the whole point of the Ninja (silent is in the name) ... the 800 rpm fan is what delivers the 38 dbA. If that's the approach, save money, grab the Fuma for $45, take the 42 dbA (1400 rpm) and pick up 8-10C ...

Fuma is far weaker than Ninja 5 in every benchmark i checked.....
the idea of adding high rpm fan to ninja 5 is to bring it closer to DH-15 / Dark Rock Pro 4 result, certainly not a Fuma.....
moreover Fuma is exactly the same price as Ninja 5 in my country so there is nothing to save here only performance lost and even louder lol.
