IMHO, this is one of the best ways to save some money on a new build, by skipping the SSD/HDD configuration and using one of these that essentially have an 8 GB SSD built in. You still get quick boot times, but maybe not quite as fast as a SSD. Also, the FireCuda's come with a 5 year warranty.
It's been a while since the price was this low on these.

I use optane cacheing for a secondary drive (but 10TB), but I don't know if it's a good deal anymore for smaller drives (2TB and lower). Even Seagate's new consumer 1TB SSD's can be had for $160. Sure, it's more expensive, but it's going to be a lot faster with a generous size of it's own.

We have used SSD + SSHD combos for about 8 years now. Access of the SSHDs is measurably faster but not that anyone actually notices. In the any current project's files will be "recently used" so they will be sitting on the faster portion of the drive. However, if one accesses older file to copy / paste say an older window detail into a new drawing, then it's not like they can get a cup of coffee or even sneeze in the additional access time.
But when a 5 year warranty 2 TB WD Black costs $123 and the 5 year warranty 2 TB SSHD usually costs $90-$95, its a proverbial no brainer.

Storage is amazingly cheap today. IIRC, I was looking to spend $275 on an 840 MB HDD in the early 90's.
