My dads got my old machine, running 1/2 Gb ram with ATI 9600 256Mb. Photo editing RAW images on Photoshop CS3. Win XP

Would he benefit from increasing RAM to 2GB? don't want to waste his money

Thanks for all and any help.

Depends on how large the images are in MBs, with a system that old he probably bearly meets CS3s recommended requirements anyways. Personally I wouldn't put any more money into this rig and would upgrade the Ram, CPU, and Motherboard - (4 GB/8 GB ram, basic Dual Core, MB with both AGP/PCI-E)

go through your typical work and check if windows is swapping stuff out to disk. 512 mb for windows xp is absolute minimum in my opinion.
