Setting up VR on my gpu

I'm getting the rift soon now since I got my new gpu do I need this for it to work with my gpu or can it go without it?

the only problem with that is it takes a USB 3.0 plug on the mobo and I only have one and its in use, I'm sure its nice to have but just don't know

I'm set on buying the rift the VIVE is still to expansive for me, I cant remember what games were coming out for VR for PC besides fallout 4 and doom I think.

That's a nice front panel, but you don't need it. The price is to high for what it does. I would just turn your pc around to extend the length of the cable if you need it. The Oculus CV1 cable is shorter than the Vive's, but if you don't plan to do full room scale then I think your fine. If you plan to do full room scale with 4 camera's then I would look into buying some extension cables. Just search for the best extension cables for the Oculus Rift CV1.

Do you plan to get the CV1 and Touch? I would recommend it over just the hmd. The free games that come with touch will pay for it.

The rift is more affordable just don't feel like spending 800 dollars on the vive and I keep reading you can use a Xbox controller with the rift if that's true that will save me some money but the touch controls are only 99.99.

The XBox Controller comes with the CV1. The CV1 and Touch is $599 and just the CV1 by it self is $499. So, if you have the money for just the HMD then buy it and then buy touch later for the same price. It's not any cheaper to buy the bundle, but if you can afford both then I would suggest getting both. The free games alone will pay for the Touch.

So the rift will come with everything i need to play vr I heard you need hdmi spliter to go with it but I thought something like that came with the rift. I hope to buy in the next month or two.

If you just get the HMD then it comes with one sensor, but if you get touch with it then you'll get 2 sensors for 180 degree play space. If you want room scale then you'll need to buy 2 more sensors for the best room scale experience.

Check your Video card to see if it has 2x hdmi ports. If so, then you are set. If it has something like 1x hdmi and 2x display ports then you'll need to use a display port to hdmi cable. They are cheap and I use them on a few company pc's or if you monitor has display ports just use display port to display port.

Yea, I saw your system specs, but I didn't have time to research to see if it had 2x hdmi ports. So yea, you're good to go. I wouldn't buy the vr front panel, because someone reviewed it and said, "Product uses HDMI 1.0 cables which is not compatible with VR devices. You will need to replace the cables with HDMI 2.0 M/F extension cables. Do NOT but this product for VR until they fix these issues. Not sure about others who reviewed this product but my guess is they didn't use it for VR.".

Yea I saw that review maybe they fixed it. But after reading it I post on here to see if it's worth it and makes it easier to hook up vr. It looks like it's nice to have just not worth the 40 bucks

I got my pc sidways now so I can see my new gpu light up lol so that's prob work better that way it's on the left side where I sit.
