recorded on win 1903 with latest game bar xbox app, I was playing @4k where performance is fine even with AA, but the video seems choppy, also only @1080p, and I DONT have cpu overhead, so why?
Also recorded with 2x gtx 1080 SC SLI, with fast vsync active. However, evga precision was running and I forgot the frame limiter to 60fps was on, is that the culprit? it does not affect my gaming...

BTW , game folder weighs 100GB, is on nvme, the recording folder is on a separate OS nvme

I thought it looked choppy, then actually read your post, I was intrigued by reshade.

maybe try a lower bitrate for your encoding, it seemed really good quality i was surprised it was 1080p so the bit rates definitely up there.

If problem exists only on video then there must be some kind of problem with recording tool. Personally i've never used windows' built-in recording tool. Do you use two xeons as cpus? Windows 10 version is home or pro/enterprise? One of reasons can be a problem with "civilian" version of windows not probably managing cores and threads, cpu scheduler in OS. If you are using home version of windows 10 i would give a try to enterprise which you can evaluate for free for 90 days (can be extended to 360 days) which should have scheduler more optimized for such big amounts of cores and threads.

Also you could try to configure better recording tool like obs (open broadcaster software) or with geforce gpus, shadowplay.

Also if recording bitrate is high and output file gets big size s result then probably drive is not writing fast enough. Move recording location to different drive, faster hdd or better ssd.

Oh, it's windows 10 enterprise, version 1903 with latest patches. The drive as i said is NVME for recording, another nvme for game. Ram is 96GB, about 70% of it is busy with storage caches. That should leave about 30GB for game and recording. The gpus are 8GB each, and I'm already running higher settings than that(about 10gb taxing game settings).
I thouhgt that if the recording is native with directx, it will be lighter on resources. I will look into the bitrate

Yeah I would imagine, but since my monitor is 60hz 4k, I traded high fps for 4k, and i also have msaa x4, fxaa and nvidia TXAA on.

BTW, the redux mod is a complete overhaul in graphics and game changing features, it is installed with open IV, tha's why the game folder is so large. my game version is 1.1180

One query into google and i answered my own question, in theory number of sockets and cores/threads you are covered:

Possibly you've uncovered some efficiency problem with windows 10's cpu scheduler and this would need to be fixed by microsoft.

With hardware you own you can do extremely high bitrate videos with ease (at least in theory), unless, there is some bottleneck in windows 10's cpu scheduler.

Also you mentioned game's settings exceed vram capacity then this would be causing stutter but in game and you claim you have no stutter in game but only in video.

One more possible bottleneck which comes to my mind is recording codec being unable to properly utilize such number of threads and that's why trying other recording tools with various recording settings is totally worth a try.

Yeah, stutter only on video. Also , why does it not record in 4k?
These are my settings. I do feel a certain lag while driving, some delays, but they are far more pronounced in the recording than in game

About in-game settings i have only suggestions to improve image quality: disable both fxaa and txaa, if fps drop is not big msaa change to x8 and push extended shadows distance to 100%.

I just checked windows 10's recording settings and unfortunately these do not give many options to configure so i think windows by default and as only option allows to record only 1080p output. For other resolutions try obs or shadowplay or any other dedicated tools but anyway, obs is a way to go.

Why do you have V-SYNC on?
You have G-SYNC... turn V-SYNC off


I'm not sure if windows game DVR did better than 1080p

For the ingame menu, if I set it at 165Hz without V-Sync, the ingame menu will often drop as low as 5fps or so which is very annoying.

Override application settings in NCP.
I Don't use it but G-force Experience can set it for you too. It should give you a nice boost in fps

Later on I will reduce res to 1440p, and disable fps limiter from evga precision, we'll see if recording performance improves then, I think the gpu does a lot of heavy lifting while recording

Here is the video while playing in 1440p, also shadows to max as advised, fxaa off, TXAA and MSAA on.

Off-topic semi-joke suggested by my gf: have you tried to run the sims 2 or 3 or 4 with all dlcs on your hardware? How does it run and at what settings? If i am correct sims 2 do not utilize properly many cpu cores and can be running on good hardware pretty bad.
