I know it's not necessary yet, but I plan to keep my next psu a while. My new rig is being built around an AMD 7950X and RTX 4080 (yeah, I know it's a horrible value but I want ray tracing and didn't want to pay over $1800 for a 4090 after tax), and I'm going to buy the rest of the parts (case,ram,psu) Jan 6. I don't want to use the 3 prong adapter for two reasons. One, it introduces a potential point of failure; and two, I think it looks horrible. Corsair and Bequiet each make their own cables that attach to the PSU without the need for an adapter. I'm considering the Bequiet Dark Power Pro 12 1500, Corsair HX1500i and the Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 1650. I need the higher wattage for my components and to provide additional headroom for future expandability. From the reviews I've read the GF3 has much looser voltage regulation and is a lot noisier than the other two BUT is fully ATX 3.0 compliant. Right now I'm leaning towards the Bequiet only because Corsair's cable is sold out. Which one should I get?

ATX12VO might change things in the future, so i'd not worry about futureproofing that much

ATX 3.0 is much more than a shiny new cable standard. It's an absolute must for 40xx series cards IMO. It has better power cycle, transient, voltage drop and efficiency optimizations among other things.
